Preview Roundups
December 01, 2015
Colorado at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils hope to avoid a third straight game featuring bonus hockey when they host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. New Jersey has played beyond regulation in each of its last two contests, falling to Montreal in a shootout on the road Friday before defeating the Canadiens in overtime at home the following night.
Columbus at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens own the best record in hockey but staying atop the standings will be a daunting task following Monday's news that star goaltender Carey Price will be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a lower-body injury. Rookie Mike Condon will make his third consecutive start when the Canadiens host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
Philadelphia at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
Craig Anderson looks to dust himself off following a tough performance in his last outing as the goaltender helps the Ottawa Senators open a three-game homestand against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Anderson, who made just 15 saves in a 4-3 setback to Arizona on Saturday, turned aside all 36 shots he faced in Ottawa's 4-0 triumph over Philadelphia on Nov. 21.
Buffalo at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
An inability to hold a third-period lead continues to haunt the Detroit Red Wings, who continue their five-game homestand against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. The matchup will pit two of the league's top rookies in Buffalo's Jack Eichel, the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, and high-scoring Detroit forward Dylan Larkin.
Florida at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues are rolling along with the second-best record in the Western Conference and look to extend their point streak to six games when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. St. Louis has battled through an abundance of injuries to put up a similar record to last season at this point with a group that might have more versatility and personality.
Arizona at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes were one of the biggest surprises in the first quarter of the season, and they look to continue the trend when they start a five-game road trip against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. The Coyotes are coming off three straight wins at home, including Saturday's 4-3 victory in which Mikkel Boedker recorded his second hat trick against Ottawa this season.
Minnesota at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
Patrick Kane will attempt to extend his point streak to 20 games on Tuesday when the Chicago Blackhawks return to the United Center to face the Central Division-rival Minnesota Wild. Kane has collected 11 goals and 20 assists on his point streak, which is two games shy of the franchise record and the most in the NHL since Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby's 25-game stretch from Nov. 5-Dec. 28, 2010.
Dallas at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn was named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday and leads the league with 18 goals while second in points (35), but all the individual accolades mean little to him. Dallas has won 19 of its first 24 games and tries to extend the best start in franchise history with its third straight victory and eighth in nine games when it visits the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, beginning a three-game stretch over four days against the western Canada teams.
Vancouver at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks look to earn a split of their four-game road trip when they visit the Los Angeles Kings for the finale Tuesday. Vancouver was unable to generate any offense Monday as it suffered a 4-0 loss at Anaheim to fall to 1-1-1 on its trek.
Pittsburgh at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins have stumbled since recording six straight victories, losing two in a row and six of 10 heading into a place where they haven't won since 1997. The Penguins look to right the ship when they open a four-game road trip against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
