Preview Roundups
November 29, 2016
Carolina at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers were nearly invincible at Madison Square Garden for the first 3 1/2 weeks of the season, but suddenly are showing a startling inability to win in their own building. New York will attempt to halt a four-game skid (0-3-1) at home when it hosts the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets are off to their second best 20-game start in franchise history and look to continue riding that wave when they host the struggling Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. The Blue Jackets, who were buried by stumbles out of the gate the last few seasons, have lost just once in regulation the last eight games to open 11-5-4 – second only to a 14-6-0 start they had in 2010-11.
Boston at Philadelphia 7:30 PM ET
Two days after ending one skid, the Boston Bruins attempt to halt another when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Boston put a stop to its three-game overall losing streak Sunday with a 4-1 home triumph over Tampa Bay that featured Jimmy Hayes' first goal in 36 contests dating back to last season.
Buffalo at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
Jack Eichel appears poised to make his much-anticipated season debut when the Buffalo Sabres visit the surging Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. Eichel, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2015 draft, suffered a high ankle sprain on the eve of the regular season but practiced fully on Monday and, barring a setback, will be in the lineup in Ottawa.
Dallas at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Dallas Stars attempt to halt their three-game skid on the road when they continue their four-game trip Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. Dallas fell to 0-1-2 in its last three away from home after suffering a 4-3 overtime loss at St. Louis on Monday in the opener of its trek.
New Jersey at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets scored nine goals in their past six games entering Tuesday’s home contest with the New Jersey Devils, but Bryan Little may be ready to provide welcomed offensive reinforcement. The center, who suffered a lower-body injury in the Jets’ season opener Oct. 13, centered a line with Blake Wheeler and Drew Stafford during Monday’s practice and could be activated after missing 23 games.
Florida at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers chose to change direction with the surprise firing of successful coach Gerard Gallant Sunday night and general manager Tom Rowe takes over on an interim basis when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. Gallant led Florida to its second division title in franchise history last season, but Rowe told reporters a “philosophical divide” led to the move after the injury-plagued Panthers came out of the gate 11-10-1.
Nashville at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators look to close out a strong month on a high note when they conclude a brief two-game road trip by visiting the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. After winning only twice in eight games in October, the Predators are 8-3-2 in November despite a 3-0 loss at the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night.
Toronto at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs feel good about themselves as they begin a three-game run through Western Canada on Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers, who are happy to be playing anyone other than Arizona. Edmonton comes off consecutive losses to the Coyotes with Sunday's 2-1 setback at home dropping them to an inexplicable 0-21-4 versus Arizona in the last 25 meetings, while Toronto snapped a three-game slide (0-2-1) with a 4-2 victory over Washington on Saturday.
Minnesota at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild put a pair of streaks on the line Tuesday as they continue their five-game road trip with a matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. Minnesota began its trek by extending its overall point streak to four games (2-0-2) as Charlie Coyle scored his team-leading eighth goal with 1:08 remaining in the third period to forge a tie Saturday before St. Louis eked out a 4-3 shootout victory.
Montreal at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens continue their five-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday armed with the NHL's best record and arguably its best player in goaltender Carey Price. The 2015 Hart Trophy winner is bidding for another MVP trophy with a league-most 13 victories against two losses (one in overtime), a 1.66 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage while Montreal owns the largest division lead at five points over Ottawa in the Atlantic.
Arizona at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes are climbing back into the playoff race with a strong run against its Pacific Division rivals and look to continue the surge when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. The Coyotes are 3-1-2 during a six-game stretch versus the Pacific after knocking off the Edmonton Oilers in their last two games and can move to 3-0-0 against the Sharks with a win Tuesday.
