Preview Roundups
November 22, 2016
St. Louis at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The last time David Backes was on the ice with the St. Louis Blues, he was leading the line for a congratulatory handshake following a loss to the San Jose Sharks in last season's Western Conference finals. Backes figures to be shaking plenty of hands, albeit on a less somber note, when he and the Boston Bruins host the Blues on Tuesday night.
Carolina at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
Despite concluding their five-game homestand with four consecutive victories, the Carolina Hurricanes still find themselves near the bottom of the Metropolitan Division standings. Carolina, which occupies seventh place in the eight-team division, attempts to extend the winning streak to five when it begins a three-game road trip Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ottawa at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
After getting wiped out in back-to-back home games, the Ottawa Senators face the daunting task of trying to end their mini-slide when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Not only do the Canadiens have a league-best 30 points, they have yet to lose in regulation in a dozen games at the Bell Centre.
Philadelphia at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers come home after knocking off the top two teams in the Eastern Conference and hope to ride that wave of momentum when host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. The Panthers went 3-1-0 on the trek, including an overtime victory at red-hot Montreal and a 3-2 shootout triumph Sunday against the Metropolitan Division-leading New York Rangers.
NY Islanders at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
Perhaps a trip to the West Coast can shake the New York Islanders from their doldrums, but three games in four nights - starting with a contest against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday - seems to be a tall task. New York will be well-rested, though, as it hasn't played since a 3-2 setback in overtime against Pittsburgh on Friday - its seventh loss in eight games (1-3-4).
