Preview Roundups
November 15, 2014
Carolina at Boston 1:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins look to put a disastrous two-game road trip behind them when they vie for a fifth consecutive home victory against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins were riding high on a five-game winning streak before being outscored 11-2 in lopsided losses to Original Six-rivals Toronto and Montreal.
Minnesota at Dallas 2:00 PM ET
Two teams who have snapped frustrating losing streaks look to keep moving forward as the Minnesota Wild visit the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon. The Stars, who had gone winless (0-5-2) in seven games before knocking off Arizona and Los Angeles in succession, will try to turn things around at home, where they are 1-3-4. Minnesota scored a total of three goals in four straight losses before beating Buffalo 6-3 on Thursday behind Nino Niederreiter’s first career hat trick.
Anaheim at Los Angeles 4:00 PM ET
Losing seven of their last nine games provides ample motivation for the Los Angeles Kings, who also will have revenge on their minds when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday afternoon in the second matchup in four days between the Pacific Division rivals. The Kings blew two-goal leads on three occasions before falling at Anaheim in a shootout Wednesday in this season's first installment of the Freeway Faceoff.
Toronto at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
After seeing their four-game home winning streak come to an end, the Toronto Maple Leafs will make a quick stop in Western New York to face the reeling Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Defenseman Cody Franson scored to extend his career-best point streak to six contests, but the Maple Leafs mustered little else in a 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday.
Philadelphia at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens attempt to extend their winning streak and complete a perfect homestand when they welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to Bell Centre on Saturday. Montreal has been unstoppable since dropping back-to-back home games against Calgary and Chicago to start the month, winning four straight contests - including the first three of its four-game homestand.
NY Islanders at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders look for a sweep on their two-day, two-game trip to the Sunshine State when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The Islanders have allowed a total of six goals during their five-game winning streak, including Friday’s 4-3 shootout triumph at Florida. The Lightning lost in a shootout at Chicago on Tuesday and dropped a 2-1 decision to San Jose at home two days later after winning six consecutive contests.
Colorado at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche wrap up their four-game Eastern Conference road trip Saturday, when they visit the New Jersey Devils. Colorado has one regulation win in 10 contests away from home, which is part of the reason it is at the bottom of the Central despite having played more games than any other team in the division. The Avalanche are trying to build on a shootout triumph over the New York Rangers, but they have allowed over four goals per game on the road trip.
NY Rangers at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins have won eight of nine contests and look to avenge their lone misstep in that sequence when they host the New York Rangers on Saturday. The Penguins were riding high on the strength of a seven-game winning streak before dropping a 5-0 decision to their Metropolitan Division rivals at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
San Jose at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks continue their seven-game road trip when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. San Jose split the first four contests of its trek, sandwiching victories in Dallas and Tampa Bay around losses at Chicago and Florida. Joe Thornton and Tyler Kennedy scored just over five minutes apart in the second period Thursday and the Sharks held on for a 2-1 triumph over the Lightning.
Winnipeg at Nashville 7:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators have yet to suffer back-to-back defeats this season and look to keep that streak intact when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. The Predators, who lost at Winnipeg 3-1 on Nov. 4 as part of a six-game road trip, had their three-game winning streak halted with a 4-3 setback at St. Louis on Thursday - their fourth straight one-goal decision. Rookie Filip Forsberg continued his stellar play with a goal and two assists to boost his team-leading point total to 20.
Washington at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues wrap up their five-game homestand Saturday as they welcome the Washington Capitals to Scottrade Center. St. Louis improved to 3-1-0 on the stretch of home contests with a 4-3 triumph over Nashville on Thursday, when Paul Stastny snapped a tie with 5:54 remaining in the third period. It was the second meeting between the teams in six days as the Predators skated to a 2-1 victory last Saturday.
Ottawa at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators attempt to conclude their trek across Western Canada on a high note when they visit the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Ottawa began its three-game road trip with an overtime loss in Vancouver on Tuesday before defeating Edmonton in the extra session two days later. Mike Hoffman opened the scoring as the Senators built a 3-0 lead in the first period but squandered it before the rookie capped his second two-goal performance in five games at 2:39 of overtime.
