Preview Roundups
November 14, 2015
NY Rangers at Ottawa 1:00 PM ET
Off to the best start in franchise history, the white-hot New York Rangers go for their eighth consecutive victory when they visit the Ottawa Senators for a Saturday matinee. The Rangers extended their point streak to 11 games with a 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday - the first time they allowed more than two goals since Oct. 15.
Detroit at Boston 7:00 PM ET
A five-game homestand typically provides a strong opportunity for a team to make a move up in the standings, but that's hardly been the case for the Boston Bruins this season. The Bruins have been superb away from home but enter Saturday's matchup against the visiting Detroit Red Wings with only one victory in seven games (1-5-1) at TD Garden.
San Jose at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres continue to make a strong case for themselves as the most improved team in the NHL after two straight cellar-dwelling seasons. The Sabres go after their fourth straight victory and can climb over the .500 mark for the first time since early in 2012-13 when they host the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
Vancouver at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs have posted consecutive victories for the first time this season and look to continue their progress when the Vancouver Canucks pay them a visit on Saturday. The Maple Leafs have gained at least one point in four straight (2-0-2) while allowing just seven goals in that span but must turn things around at home, where they have won once in seven tries.
Colorado at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
Matt Duchene has gotten hot at an opportune time as the Colorado Avalanche continue their season-long seven game road trip Saturday with a contest against the NHL's top team - the Montreal Canadiens. Duchene recorded six goals in his last five games, including the game-winner in the third period while adding an assist in Colorado's 3-2 victory at Boston on Thursday as the Avalanche improved to 2-0-0 on their trek - part of stretch where they'll play 14 of 18 games on the road.
Florida at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning will attempt to win back-to-back games for the first time in more than a month when they host the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Captain Steven Stamkos notched his ninth goal of the season Thursday in a 3-1 victory over Calgary by Tampa Bay, which has won seven of the last eight meetings between the Sunshine State rivals.
Pittsburgh at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils attempt to continue their current surge when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. New Jersey, which has qualified for the playoffs only once in the last five seasons, has won nine of its last 12 contests after beginning the campaign with four straight losses (0-3-1).
Philadelphia at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
A pair of low-scoring Metropolitan Division rivals meet at PNC Arena on Saturday as the Carolina Hurricanes host the reeling Philadelphia Flyers. Philadelphia has mustered just 14 goals en route to losing eight of its last nine (1-6-2) while Carolina has scored just nine times in dropping four of its last five contests.
Arizona at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes seek their fourth consecutive victory as they begin a four-game road trip against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Arizona is coming off its fourth win in five contests this month, a 4-1 triumph over Edmonton on Thursday in which it spotted the Oilers an early lead before rattling off four straight goals.
Winnipeg at Nashville 7:00 PM ET
There is little room for error in the ultra-competitive Central Division, and the Winnipeg Jets and host Nashville Predators meet Saturday looking to improve upon issues that have dropped them into the middle of the division standings. Winnipeg’s defense has been troublesome during a four-game losing streak, while the Predators followed a seven-goal performance by scoring only once in a shootout loss to Toronto on Thursday.
Chicago at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks will receive some reinforcements on Saturday as defensemen Duncan Keith and Michal Rozsival return to the lineup to face the host St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Keith, who is the reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner and two-time Norris Trophy recipient, has been sidelined since Oct. 17 with a knee injury while Rozsival is making his season debut after he shattered his ankle in a playoff game versus Minnesota in May.
Minnesota at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild routinely have flexed their offensive muscle this season, scoring over three goals per contest (3.07) to remain hot on the heels of the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars. After winning four of the five meetings between the clubs in 2014-15, the Wild vie for their season-high fourth straight victory on Saturday when they attempt to subdue the high-octane Stars.
Edmonton at Los Angeles 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings sit in an unfamiliar place in the standings - first in the Pacific Division - as they try for their seventh straight home victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Los Angeles, which won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014, has finished better than third once since 2000 and claimed one division title in franchise history - the Smythe in 1990-91 - as it tries to stay on top in what is shaping up to be a competitive Pacific this season.
