Preview Roundups
November 09, 2014
Tampa Bay at Detroit 6:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning, who are off to one of the best starts in franchise history, look to extend their winning streak to six games when they visit the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. Tampa Bay’s 10 wins match the team’s most through 14 games, and its 21 points in the same span equal the previous high set during its Stanley Cup season of 2003-04. The Red Wings have gained points in five of their last six contests (3-1-2) but are expected to be without All-Star Pavel Datsyuk due to a groin injury.
Edmonton at NY Rangers 6:00 PM ET
The start of November hasn't been one to remember for the New York Rangers, who have dropped three of four (1-1-2) heading into Sunday's home game against the Edmonton Oilers. While his team is sputtering, Rick Nash continued his torrid streak by tying Anaheim's Corey Perry with his 11th goal in Saturday's 5-4 road loss to Toronto.
Toronto at Ottawa 6:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators conclude their four-game homestand when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday in a contest originally scheduled for Oct. 22. That meeting was postponed due to shooting incidents in Canada's capital earlier that day. Ottawa went 2-0-1 over the first three games of its homestand, outscoring its opponents 7-2 while remaining unbeaten in regulation at Canadian Tire Centre this season (4-0-3).
San Jose at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks continue their grueling seven-game road trip when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. The trek did not start well for San Jose, which was 20 minutes away from a 3-1 loss before scoring four times in the third period en route to a 5-3 triumph at Dallas on Saturday. Defenseman Brent Burns highlighted the outburst by netting the tying and go-ahead goals in a 3:45 span.
Vancouver at Anaheim 9:00 PM ET
Ryan Kesler will face his former team for the first time when his Anaheim Ducks host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. Kesler looks to halt his eight-game goal-scoring drought as he squares off against a Vancouver team with which he spent the first 10 seasons of his NHL career before being traded this past summer. The 30-year-old has recorded only three tallies and 10 points in his first 15 games with the Ducks.
