Preview Roundups
November 07, 2015
Vancouver at Buffalo 1:00 PM ET
Emotional goaltender Ryan Miller shed tears when addressing the media shortly after he was traded from the Buffalo Sabres in March 2014. Nearly 20 months later, Miller returns to First Niagara Center for the first time when his Vancouver Canucks open a seven-game road trip against the Sabres on Saturday afternoon.
Florida at Los Angeles 4:00 PM ET
Despite matching a long-standing franchise record, the Los Angeles Kings kicked off a five-game homestand with a 3-2 loss to Columbus on Thursday night. It marked only the second defeat in 10 contests overall and halted a four-game winning streak at Staples Center for the Kings, who look to get back on track against the Florida Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
Boston at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens vie for their seventh consecutive regular-season victory over the Boston Bruins when the Original Six rivals meet at the Bell Centre on Saturday night. While Carey Price traditionally has been the one flustering the Bruins during that streak, rookie Mike Condon has more than made the grade lately in place of the injured Hart and Vezina Trophy winner (lower body).
Toronto at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals take aim at the best start in franchise history when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. The Capitals continued their domination of the Boston Bruins with a 4-1 victory on Thursday night to improve to 9-3-0 and match the 1991-92 and 2011-12 squads for the most victories in the first 12 games of a season.
Ottawa at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators will have a welcome addition when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday in search of their fifth victory in six games. Mark Stone, who missed the last two contests due to a suspension, shares the team lead in scoring and looks to extend his point streak to five games as Ottawa attempts to improve on a 5-1-0 road record.
Philadelphia at Winnipeg 7:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets host the struggling Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, a brief one-day homecoming between two four-game road trips for a squad that is more than holding its own in the ultra-competitive Central Division. The Jets rallied from a two-goal deficit before losing in a shootout Thursday at Ottawa, capping a 2-1-1 trek that has kept the Jets near the top of the division standings.
St. Louis at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
Battered by injury throughout the first month of the season, the St. Louis Blues are expected to receive quite the reinforcement for Saturday's road game versus the Central Division-rival Nashville Predators. Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was activated from injured reserve on Friday after missing 10 games with a groin injury.
Tampa Bay at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild will be without top goal scorer and inspirational leader Zach Parise when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. Parise, a left wing who has recorded seven goals in 12 games, suffered an apparent knee injury in Thursday’s 3-2 loss to Nashville and will miss at least two contests as the Wild attempt to snap their two-game slide with a depleted lineup.
NY Rangers at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers attempt to continue their impressive roll when they visit the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. New York began its brief two-game road trip by edging Colorado 2-1 on Friday, extending their winning streak to four games and point run to eight contests (6-0-2).
Pittsburgh at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins vie for their seventh consecutive victory as they conclude their four-game road trip against the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Pittsburgh has posted four one-goal victories during its six-game winning streak, including a 2-1 triumph at Edmonton on Friday.
Anaheim at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks had an October to forget, losing nine of their 10 games (1-7-2), but appear poised to have a November to remember as they visit the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Anaheim, which fell one game short of reaching the Stanley Cup Final last season, defeated Columbus 4-2 on Friday for its third straight victory while welcoming back captain Ryan Getzlaf, who recorded three assists in his return from a four-game absence due to an appendectomy on Oct. 28.
