Preview Roundups
November 03, 2016
Philadelphia at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders hope to take advantage of the remainder of their lengthy stretch of home games, beginning with Thursday's matchup against the Metropolitan Division-rival Philadelphia Flyers. New York, which has lost all three of its road contests this season, is in the midst of a second five-game homestand that falls within a span during which it plays 10 of 11 contests at Barclays Center but is 1-1-0 on this string and 4-3-0 overall during the run.
Toronto at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres are enjoying the sweet taste of a three-game winning streak while the Toronto Maple Leafs have yet to savor the flavor of one victory on the road this season. The Sabres look to continue their good fortune of late and record their eighth straight home victory over the Maple Leafs on Thursday when the Atlantic Division rivals battle at KeyBank Center.
Edmonton at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have been almost invincible at home and look to continue their success when they welcome Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers to Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. New York is coming off a pair of impressive victories, demolishing Tampa Bay and St. Louis -- two teams that advanced to the conference finals last season.
Winnipeg at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals will renew acquaintances with Winnipeg on Thursday, two days removed from completing their four-game road trip through Western Canada with a 3-2 victory over the Jets. Marcus Johansson recorded his third multi-point performance in as many contests - all wins - for the Capitals, who open a three-game stay at the Verizon Center with the back end of the home-and-home series.
New Jersey at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils have yet to win away from home, a situation they will try to rectify when they open a three-game road trip with a visit to the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. New Jersey capped a 3-0-1 homestand with a 3-1 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday, but hits a bumpy part of the schedule with eight of its next 10 contests on the road.
Boston at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
Goaltender Tuukka Rask’s return from injury has steadied the Boston Bruins on the defensive side of the ice and the next challenge will be waking up a dormant offense. The Bruins managed three goals while riding Rask to victories in the last two games and go for three in a row on the road when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
Vancouver at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators have ridden an emotional roller coaster through the first three weeks of the season and look for their first three-game winning streak when the Vancouver Canucks pay them a visit on Thursday. Goaltender Craig Anderson returned to the Senators on Sunday following the news that his wife was diagnosed with cancer and produced two gems, allowing a total of one goal in two victories.
St. Louis at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues waged a spirited duel for the Central Division title last season, a battle that carried into the postseason and a seven-game, second-round series won by the Blues. Neither team is playing close to that level this season as they prepare to renew their rivalry Thursday night in Dallas.
Colorado at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
A potent power play has proven to be pivotal for the Chicago Blackhawks, who have posted a 6-1-1 mark since starting the season with a pair of losses. The Blackhawks look to continue that trend as they vie for their fourth straight victory in Thursday's conclusion of a three-game homestand versus the Central Division-rival Colorado Avalanche.
Nashville at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
A pair of three-win teams -- and division cellar dwellers -- will square off on Thursday when the Nashville Predators pay a visit to the Arizona Coyotes. It will mark the finale of a five-game road trip for the Predators, who earned their first win on the trek with an impressive 5-1 victory at the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
One team seeks its fifth consecutive victory while the other looks to avoid being shut out a fourth straight time when the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Pittsburgh is coming off its fourth win in a row, a 5-1 triumph at Anaheim that boosted its record to 2-0-0 on its four-game road trip.
Calgary at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have experienced a reversal of fortune from last season, when they recorded a franchise-best win total on the road while barely able to keep their heads above water at home. The SAP Center has seen a better performance from its tenants this season as San Jose looks to remain perfect at home on Thursday when it hosts the Pacific Division-rival Calgary Flames.
