Preview Roundups
November 01, 2016
St. Louis at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues zipped off to a fast start this season with three consecutive victories, capped by a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers. The Blues have struggled since that time, particularly on offense, which could be an issue when they visit on the high-scoring New York Rangers on Tuesday night in a rematch.
Dallas at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars owned the best record in the Western Conference last season thanks to a high-powered offense that led the league in scoring. Goals have been hard to come by this season for the Stars, who have a chance to avenge one of their two shutout losses when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay at NY Islanders 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning have strung together three straight regulation losses for the first time since last October and attempt to pull out of the tailspin when they visit the New York Islanders on Tuesday. The Lightning managed three goals combined in losses against Montreal, New Jersey and the New York Rangers after starting a six-game road trip with a pair of victories.
Edmonton at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The No. 1 overall pick in each of the last two drafts will square off for the first time in the NHL when Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers pay a visit to Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. It will be a reunion of sorts for the 19-year-old phenoms, who were linemates for Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey in September.
Carolina at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
Craig Anderson warmed the heart with an emotional performance in his last outing and the NHL's First Star of the Week carries his shutout streak into Tuesday as the Ottawa Senators open a three-game homestand against the Carolina Hurricanes. Anderson turned aside all 37 shots he faced in Ottawa's 2-0 victory over Edmonton on Sunday in his first start since taking a leave of absence to be with his wife, Nicholle, who recently was diagnosed with cancer.
Boston at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The injury-plagued Florida Panthers are staying afloat with a pair of budget free-agent signings leading the way as they prepare to host the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. Jonathan Marchessault ($750,000) leads the team with six goals and 11 points while Colton Sceviour ($950,000) notched a hat trick in Florida’s 5-2 victory at Detroit on Sunday that snapped a three-game slide.
Buffalo at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Devan Dubnyk has scribbled his name in the Minnesota Wild record book on a number of occasions, the latest coming after he recorded his third consecutive shutout. Named the NHL's Second Star of the Week, Dubnyk carries a 181-minute, 43-second shutout streak into Tuesday's contest as the Wild attempt to complete a season sweep of the visiting Buffalo Sabres.
Washington at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Following a brief two-game stumble, the Washington Capitals are rolling again heading into Tuesday’s contest against the host Winnipeg Jets. The Capitals never trailed in winning back-to-back games this weekend, scoring eight goals combined against Vancouver and Calgary – four by forward Marcus Johansson – after coach Barry Trotz juggled his forward lines.
Calgary at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
While a certain Chicago-based baseball team won only one of three games at home in its current (World) series, the city's hockey team has been thriving in front of the home folks to begin the 2016-17 season. The Blackhawks look to improve upon their 4-1-1 mark at the United Center and avenge last week's 3-2 shootout loss to Calgary when the Flames pay a visit on Tuesday.
Nashville at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators are looking like a shell of the team that came within one win of reaching the Western Conference finals last season. Mired in last place in the Central Division, the Predators look to halt a three-game skid when they continue a five-game road trip with a visit to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.
San Jose at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
Undefeated at home, the San Jose Sharks venture out of the safe waters of SAP Center in search of their fourth straight victory on Tuesday when they visit the Pacific Division-rival Arizona Coyotes. The Sharks, who improved to 4-0-0 at home with a 4-1 triumph over Nashville on Saturday, posted a 2-3-0 mark on their initial five-game road trip on the heels of recording a franchise-best 28 wins away from home last season.
Anaheim at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks welcome Rickard Rakell back to the lineup as they visit the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday and hope the forward adds a spark to their inconsistent offense. Rakell signed a six-year contract extension Oct. 14 worth $3.8 million per year and was seen practicing with the second power-play unit Monday as Anaheim tries to bounce back from a stunning 4-0 loss to Columbus on Friday at home.
