Preview Roundups
October 27, 2016
Minnesota at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
Coming off a lopsided victory for their first win away from home, the Minnesota Wild will wrap up a four-game road trip when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Minnesota is coming off a dominating 5-0 win at Boston and has won seven of nine trips to Buffalo, including the past three.
Arizona at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes gave their home fans a thrill with a season-opening victory over the Philadelphia Flyers before packing their bags to begin a six-game road trip. Five deflating losses followed for the Coyotes, who look to stop the bleeding and complete a season sweep of the Flyers on Thursday at Wells Fargo Center.
NY Islanders at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
With captain Sidney Crosby back in the lineup, the New York Islanders will be hard-pressed to put an end to the Pittsburgh Penguins' season-opening home point streak when the Metropolitan Division rivals face off on Thursday. Crosby made a strong 2016-17 debut against Florida on Tuesday after missing Pittsburgh's first six games of the campaign with a concussion, scoring a power-play goal while receiving just over 18 minutes of ice time in a 3-2 home victory.
Florida at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers had the misfortune of being on the opposite side in Sidney Crosby's season debut and hope to rebound from a narrow defeat when they continue their four-game road trip at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. Florida was unable to hold an early two-goal lead in a 3-2 loss to Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning's high-octane offense looks to stay hot when the team continues its six-game road trip against the streaking Montreal Canadiens on Thursday in an Atlantic Division showdown. The Lightning scored 11 times over the first two games of their trek and complete the Canadian portion of the excursion against a Montreal team that is allowing a league-low 1.57 goals per game and riding a five-game winning streak.
Detroit at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings have picked up the pace with five straight victories overall and will vie for their fifth consecutive win in the Gateway City on Thursday when they visit the St. Louis Blues. Second-year star Dylan Larkin scored his first two goals of the season in a 4-2 triumph over Carolina on Tuesday and tallied in a 4-3 victory over St. Louis on Nov. 21.
Dallas at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets will attempt to put an end to a dubious streak when they host the Dallas Stars on Thursday night in the second leg of a home-and-home series. Winnipeg, which dropped a 3-2 decision in Dallas on Tuesday for its second straight defeat, has pulled its goaltender in each of its six games this season.
Nashville at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings have needed extra time in each contest during their three-game winning streak but hope to extend the run in regulation Thursday as they conclude their three-game homestand against the Nashville Predators. Los Angeles halted its season-opening three-game slide with an overtime victory at Dallas on Oct. 20 and began its stretch at Staples Center with a shootout triumph over Vancouver two nights later before edging Columbus in the extra session Tuesday.
Columbus at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
After opening a five-game road trip with a one-goal victory over Columbus, the San Jose Sharks look to secure a winning homestand on Thursday when the Blue Jackets pay a visit. Captain Joe Pavelski scored a power-play goal and set up defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic's overtime goal in Tuesday's 2-1 triumph against Anaheim in the opener of a three-game stay at SAP Center.
