Preview Roundups
October 25, 2016
Minnesota at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild are perfect at home but remain in search of their first victory on the road when they visit the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. It is the third stop of a four-game road trip for Minnesota, which was throttled by the New York Islanders on Sunday after losing an overtime decision at New Jersey 24 hours earlier.
Arizona at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
Wins are hard to come by for the Arizona Coyotes, who have just one this season and zero through the first four contests of their season-high six-game road trip. The Pacific Division cellar-dwelling Coyotes, who are being gouged for a ghastly 4.2 goals per contest, will look to tighten the bolts on their leaky defense Tuesday when they visit the New Jersey Devils.
Florida at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins haven't resembled the team that won the Stanley Cup just four short months ago, but that look could change on Tuesday when they host the Florida Panthers. Captain Sidney Crosby returned to a full-contact practice on Monday and is considered day-to-day to make his season debut after being sidelined since Oct. 7 with a concussion.
Buffalo at Philadelphia 7:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers hope to bounce back from a road loss 24 hours earlier when they face off against the well-rested Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game homestand. Philadelphia ended a three-game winless streak with a 6-3 triumph against visiting Carolina on Saturday but was unable to build off it, dropping a 3-1 decision at Montreal two days later.
Tampa Bay at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
Many wondered after last season if Tuesday night would be the first game Steven Stamkos played against the team that drafted him in 2008. Stamkos surprised just about everyone by re-signing with the Tampa Bay Lightning for eight years and the captain looks to remain hot when he takes the ice near his home town in Toronto against the exciting young Maple Leafs.
Carolina at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings turned the page after a rough season-opening trip to the Sunshine State and aim for their fifth straight victory when the Carolina Hurricanes pay a visit on Tuesday. The Red Wings gave up 10 goals in losses at Tampa Bay and Florida before clamping down defensively while allowing just five in four sharp victories, including a 3-0 shutout of San Jose on Saturday.
Calgary at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues salvaged the finale of their three-game road trip and hope to put together a winning streak when they open a three-game homestand on Tuesday against the same team in the Calgary Flames. St. Louis won its first three contests this season - including two at home - but began its trek with setbacks in Vancouver and Edmonton before posting a 6-4 victory at Calgary on Saturday.
Winnipeg at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The injury-ravaged Dallas Stars will look to avoid a third consecutive defeat when they wrap up their three-game homestand against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. It is front leg of a home-and-home set against the struggling Jets, with the rematch to be played Thursday night in Winnipeg.
Ottawa at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks look to keep their record at home unblemished when they host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. The Canucks won their first four games by one goal before their good fortune ran out in a two-game road trip to Southern California, falling in a shootout to Los Angeles before suffering their first regulation defeat at Anaheim.
Anaheim at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks struggled to rediscover the magic of last season's franchise record for road wins (28) during their recent five-game trek through the Eastern Conference. After seeing his team drop two in a row and three of their last four, coach Peter DeBoer is prepared to shake things up on Tuesday when the Sharks open a three-game homestand against the Pacific Division-rival Anaheim Ducks.
Columbus at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings have gotten up to speed with two straight victories after stumbling of the blocks to start the season. The Blue Jackets and Kings look to remain on the fast track at the other's expense on Tuesday when they meet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
