Preview Roundups
October 24, 2015
New Jersey at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils look to match last season's longest winning streak on Saturday, when they vie for their fourth consecutive victory versus promising rookie Jack Eichel and the host Buffalo Sabres. New Jersey goaltender and Bay State native Cory Schneider is looking to make his fifth consecutive start - and the first of his career versus the former Boston University star.
Toronto at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens kicked off their season with a 3-1 victory in Toronto, setting the tone that will see them carry a perfect record into Saturday's home matchup against the Maple Leafs. Montreal continued its dominant start with a 7-2 road victory over Buffalo on Friday to improve to 8-0-0, with each of the last four wins coming by at least three goals.
NY Rangers at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers appear to be back on track following a listless three-game skid and will go for their third consecutive victory when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. New York had scored only twice during a 0-2-1 stretch but bounced back by posting a pair of impressive wins against Western Conference foes Anaheim and Arizona.
Florida at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars look to follow a perfect four-game road trip with a strong homestand, which begins with a visit from the Florida Panthers on Saturday. The Stars have won five straight overall, including a 4-2 victory at Florida on Oct. 17 in which they received two goals each from captain Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, and are tied for the best record in the Western Conference (6-1-0).
Tampa Bay at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks attempt to produce a similar defensive effort that led to a six-game triumph in last season’s Stanley Cup Final when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The Blackhawks held Tampa Bay, the highest-scoring team in the league during the regular season, to 10 goals last June to win their third Cup in six campaigns.
Columbus at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets produced a better effort in new coach John Tortorella’s debut Thursday despite losing for the eighth straight time to open the campaign. The Blue Jackets attempt to find their best form defensively and end the second-longest slide to start a season in NHL history on Saturday, when they visit the Colorado Avalanche.
Detroit at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
Two teams looking to end slides face off Saturday as the Detroit Red Wings conclude their disappointing Canadian road trip against the Vancouver Canucks. Detroit took to the road after falling to Carolina at home Oct. 15 and proceeded to drop decisions in Montreal, Edmonton and Calgary, scoring a total of four goals in the process.
Carolina at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes continue their search for offense as they resume their seven-game road trip against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. After totaling five goals in its first three contests — all losses — this season, Carolina began its trek by breaking out for five in a triumph at Detroit.
