Preview Roundups
October 23, 2015
Montreal at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens are getting within range of matching the league record for consecutive wins to start the season and look to make it eight victories in a row when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. Although it appears to be a gimme on paper for the red-hot Canadiens, the Sabres won the final three meetings last season.
Boston at NY Islanders 7:30 PM ET
After failing to record a win at TD Garden for the fourth time in as many contests (0-3-1), the Boston Bruins look to remain at home on the road when they face the New York Islanders on Friday. Patrice Bergeron celebrated the birth of his son on Wednesday morning and had a goal and an assist later that night, but the Bruins saw a two-goal lead evaporate in the third period en route to a 5-4 overtime loss to Philadelphia.
Tampa Bay at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman established himself as one of the team's leaders during last season’s Stanley Cup playoffs, and after missing one game with a concussion, Hedman looked just fine in his return Tuesday. The Lightning visit the Winnipeg Jets on Friday in a matchup of two of the top scoring teams in the NHL and will look for Hedman to make a big impact again after he recorded two assists in a shootout loss at Nashville.
Detroit at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill was doing his best to keep an open mind despite seeing his team's sputtering offense play a role in its third straight loss. After mustering just one goal in each of the first two contests of its four-game road trip, Detroit looks to snap a three-game skid on Friday when it visits the reeling Calgary Flames.
Washington at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
Captain Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals attempt to remain scorching hot when they wrap up their three-game road trip against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday. Washington extended its winning streak to four games Thursday with a 3-2 comeback victory over the Vancouver Canucks.
