The Arizona Coyotes have been unable to keep things close thus far on their road trip while the New York Islanders have been involved in tight affairs on their homestand. Something will have to give Friday as the Coyotes continue their six-game trek against the Islanders, who are in the middle of a five-game stretch at home.
Chicago at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks appear to have found their footing after a slow start and will go for their third consecutive victory when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. The Blue Jackets, in a scheduling oddity, have played the fewest games in the NHL and come into the matchup well rested, having been idle since Saturday.
Nashville at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings are headed on the upswing, but hidden beneath their modest two-game winning streak is a number of defensive breakdowns and a failure to clog the neutral zone. Detroit looks to tighten its play on Friday as it opens the first set of back-to-back home games with a date versus the Nashville Predators.
