Preview Roundups
October 15, 2015
Nashville at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
Pekka Rinne hasn't missed a beat since collecting 41 wins last season, yielding just two goals to lead the Nashville Predators to three straight victories. The 32-year-old Finn (3-0-0, 0.67 goals-against average, .975 save percentage) looks to keep the Predators surging ahead on Thursday when they visit the Barclays Center to face the New York Islanders.
Ottawa at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins attempt to begin recovering from their first 0-3-0 start since 2005-06 when they host the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Pittsburgh's high-powered offense has managed just three goals in the first three contests and looks to get untracked as it continues a five-game homestand against the Senators, who rolled over host Columbus 7-3 on Wednesday.
Chicago at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals are hoping their captain has better luck setting his alarm clock Thursday as they look to get their offense in gear when they host the Chicago Blackhawks. Alex Ovechkin missed Tuesday's morning skate after oversleeping and was a healthy scratch for Washington's 5-0 loss to visiting San Jose.
NY Rangers at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
A season-opening four-game road trip proved to be not much of a deterrent for the Montreal Canadiens, who will take a perfect record into Thursday night's home opener against the New York Rangers. Montreal, which won its first four games on three other occasions and captured the Stanley Cup each time, can set a record for the best start in franchise history with a victory.
Dallas at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
Jason Spezza looks to follow up his sixth career hat trick with another strong performance on Thursday when his Dallas Stars begin a four-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Spezza, who netted the tiebreaking goal late in the third period of Dallas' 4-2 victory over Edmonton on Tuesday, has collected 20 goals and 30 assists in 38 career meetings with Tampa Bay.
Buffalo at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers will get their first up-close look at rookie sensation Jack Eichel when they play host to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Eichel, the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, already has a pair of goals in three games - including a highlight-reel tally to help the Sabres beat Columbus on Monday for their first victory.
St. Louis at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
Top overall pick Connor McDavid will make his home debut as the Edmonton Oilers vie for their first win of the young season when they host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. Edmonton has struggled mightily against St. Louis, with a season-opening 3-1 setback accounting for its seventh straight loss to the Blues and 18th in 21 meetings (3-17-1).
Minnesota at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
The youth-infused Arizona Coyotes attempt to remain perfect on the season when they host the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Arizona is off to a surprising 3-0-0 start thanks in part to rookies Anthony Duclair and Max Domi, who combined for four goals and an assist in Wednesday's 4-0 road triumph over Anaheim.
