Preview Roundups
October 14, 2016
Chicago at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators bolstered their already impressive defense in the summer by acquiring P.K. Subban from Montreal in a blockbuster deal for fellow blue-liner Shea Weber. The offensive-minded Subban will look to add to coach Peter Laviolette's up-tempo style for the Predators, who begin a season of great expectations at Bridgestone Arena on Friday in the opener of a home-and-home series versus the Central Division-rival Chicago Blackhawks.
Edmonton at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers opened their new arena with budding superstar Connor McDavid playing a leading role, but the Calgary Flames will attempt to rewrite the script when they host their provincial rival on Friday in a rematch of the season opener. McDavid scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal, as the Oilers christened Rogers Place with a 7-4 win over the Flames on Wednesday night.
Philadelphia at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers finished the 2015-16 regular season with a flourish and head into Friday's season opener against the host Los Angeles Kings, who began this campaign with the disastrous loss to injury of franchise goaltender Jonathan Quick. The former Conn Smythe Trophy winner and two-time Olympian was placed on injured reserve on Thursday, one day removed from exiting the Kings' season-opening 2-1 setback to San Jose with an unspecified lower-body injury.
