Preview Roundups
October 09, 2017
Colorado at Boston 1:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins hope to get back a player or two from injury when they host the Colorado Avalanche on Monday afternoon in the opener of a home-and-home series. Boston was without forwards Patrice Bergeron (lower body) and Austin Czarnik (illness) as well as defenseman Torey Krug (jaw) in its season-opening win over Nashville on Thursday, but all three were deemed day-to-day by coach Bruce Cassidy on Sunday.
St. Louis at NY Islanders 1:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders quickly washed away the memories of a disappointing season opener with a solid performance and look to produce another when they host the unbeaten St. Louis Blues on Monday afternoon. Captain John Tavares scored 1:50 into the contest as the Islanders recorded the first four goals en route to a 6-3 home victory over Buffalo on Saturday - one day after getting pounded 5-0 at Columbus.
New Jersey at Buffalo 3:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres have received a two-goal performance from a player in each of their first two games this season but have yet to land in the win column. Buffalo looks to finally earn two points when it hosts the New Jersey Devils on Monday afternoon.
Chicago at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks have scored the most goals in the first two games of a season in franchise history and meet another team that has had no trouble offensively when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. The Blackhawks scored 10 in the opener against Pittsburgh and followed up with a 5-1 victory over Columbus on Saturday, while Toronto has matched them with 15 goals in two victories to begin the campaign.
Washington at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
Captain Alex Ovechkin has produced an emphatic answer to his lowest-scoring full season since 2010-11 and hopes to continue his offensive surge when the Washington Capitals visit the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. Ovechkin followed up a hat trick in the season opener with four more goals in a 6-1 victory over Montreal on Saturday and has netted 41 tallies in 63 career games against Tampa Bay.
Winnipeg at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers host the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, looking to put a less-than-stellar showing in Saturday’s loss at Vancouver behind them and return to the form shown in a season-opening victory over Calgary. Everything that went right for the Oilers in that victory over the Flames went wrong in the 3-2 loss to the Canucks, from Connor McDavid being held off the scoresheet to goaltender Cam Talbot being chased after allowing three goals on seven shots.
Calgary at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks continue their season-opening four-game homestand when they face off against the Calgary Flames on Monday. Anaheim began the campaign by edging Arizona 5-4 on Thursday before dropping a 3-2 overtime decision against Philadelphia two nights later.
