Preview Roundups
April 26, 2014
Detroit at Boston 3:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins made it to the Stanley Cup final a year ago and hope to follow that same path this season, but they would like to avoid another first-round detour. An overtime victory in Game 4 has the Bruins in position to close out their Eastern Conference series against the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Saturday afternoon. Boston also held a 3-1 series lead after an overtime win at Toronto last season but dropped the next two before prevailing in a wild Game 7.
Columbus at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
After squandering a three-goal lead in their last contest, the Pittsburgh Penguins look to rebound on Saturday as they host the upstart Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference first-round series. Marc-Andre Fleury once again found himself in the eye of the postseason storm after he misplayed a puck behind the net, leading to Brandon Dubinsky's game-tying goal in the waning moments of regulation on Wednesday.
Minnesota at Colorado 9:30 PM ET
Holding serve has been the predominant theme in the Western Conference playoffs and the Colorado Avalanche hope to continue that trend when they host the Minnesota Wild on Saturday in Game 5 of their first-round series. Colorado piled up nine goals in winning its first two games at home but scored only once in dropping both contests in Minnesota.
Los Angeles at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings attempt to take the second step toward an historic comeback when they visit the San Jose Sharks for Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round series on Saturday. Los Angeles looks to become just the fourth team in NHL history to overcome a 3-0 series deficit after being outscored 17-8 over the first three games.
