Preview Roundups
April 05, 2015
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia 12:30 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins are hoping the likely return of Evgeni Malkin will be just what the doctor ordered to put an end to a string of sickly performances. The Penguins have dropped two straight with the former Hart Trophy winner sidelined by an undisclosed injury and look to prevent the Keystone State-rival Philadelphia Flyers from completing a four-game season sweep when they pay a visit to the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday afternoon.
Washington at Detroit 5:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings are trying to hold down the third spot in the Atlantic Division and face an opponent in a similar predicament when they host the Washington Capitals on Sunday. The Red Wings halted a three-game slide and won for only the third time in 10 games with a 3-2 shootout victory at Minnesota on Saturday to remain tied in points with the Boston Bruins with a game in hand.
Montreal at Florida 5:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens look to snap a three-game skid and seize control of the Atlantic Division when they visit the Florida Panthers on Sunday. Even in points with a game in hand on Tampa Bay, Montreal would be wise to work on its sputtering power play after converting just once on seven opportunities in its 3-2 shootout loss to New Jersey on Friday.
Ottawa at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators refuse to wilt in their pursuit of a playoff berth and go for their fourth consecutive victory when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. The Senators have gone beyond regulation in each of their last three contests to improve to 18-3-2 in their last 23 and remain three points behind Boston for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference with four games to play.
St. Louis at Chicago 7:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks look to continue their rapid ascent in the Central Division when they host the rival St. Louis Blues on Sunday in the first of two meetings in five days. Captain Jonathan Toews scored twice in a 47-second span late in the third period as Chicago skated to its fourth straight victory with a 4-3 triumph over woeful Buffalo on Friday.
