Preview Roundups
April 04, 2015
Philadelphia at Carolina 1:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers' horrendous play away from home is one of the reasons why they fell out of contention for the postseason. The Flyers look to put a bow on an otherwise hideous record away from home when they play their final road game of the season against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon.
Pittsburgh at Columbus 2:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets won’t be going to the playoffs, but they are sure causing trouble for teams who are headed to the postseason lately. The Blue Jackets look to extend their winning streak to a franchise-record nine contests Saturday afternoon when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins while center Ryan Johansen tries to increase his point streak to 10 games.
Vancouver at Winnipeg 3:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks look to inch closer to a postseason berth when they conclude their four-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday afternoon. Vancouver resides four points ahead of third-place Calgary in the Pacific Division, with Los Angeles sitting one behind the Flames while owning the tiebreaker over the Jets for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
Toronto at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The resurgent Boston Bruins have a chance to move into third place in the Atlantic Division when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday in their final home game of the regular season. The Bruins extended their winning streak to four games by rallying for a 3-2 victory at Detroit on Thursday to move into a tie for third with the slumping Red Wings, who still hold a game in hand on Boston.
Washington at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
Andrew Hammond is the hottest goaltender in the league but he'll be facing the NHL's most dangerous offensive force when the Ottawa Senators host Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Saturday night. The Senators have won 17 of their last 22 games (17-4-1) to surge up the standings but they remain three points behind Detroit and Boston for the final playoff slot in the Eastern Conference.
Tampa Bay at Florida 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers look to keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they host the injury-plagued Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. The Panthers are six points behind in the race for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with four games to go despite going 5-2-1 in their last eight outings, while the Lightning are without four regular defensemen due to injuries.
Buffalo at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders attempt to clinch a postseason berth when they host the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. New York, which enters the contest even in points with second-place Washington in the Metropolitan Division, can secure a spot in the playoffs with a victory over Buffalo and a regulation win over Ottawa by the Capitals.
New Jersey at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
With the Metropolitan Division title under wraps, the New York Rangers continue their quest for the Presidents' Trophy when they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. J.T. Miller rebounded from a brutal cross-check to the head by Winnipeg's Dustin Byfuglien on Tuesday, scoring the go-ahead goal at 6:48 of the third period two nights later to lift New York to a 3-2 triumph over Minnesota.
Detroit at Minnesota 7:00 PM ET
Pavel Datsyuk expects to make his return to the lineup as the sputtering Detroit Red Wings look to snap a three-game skid when they visit the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. While Datsyuk declared himself "good to go" after missing two consecutive contests and seven of the last nine with a lower-body injury, coach Mike Babcock stopped short of officially inserting the 36-year-old Russian back into the lineup.
Dallas at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators look to reverse their struggles at Bridgestone Arena when they wrap up a three-game homestand against the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. The Predators were dominant in Nashville for much of the season but have dropped nine of their last 11 at home (2-5-2), including back-to-back losses this week to stall their pursuit of the Central Division title.
San Jose at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks continue their push toward a postseason berth when they visit the Arizona Coyotes for the finale of their home-and-home series Saturday. San Jose pulled within three points of Los Angeles for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference with a 3-1 triumph at SAP Center on Friday.
Calgary at Edmonton 10:00 PM ET
Clinging to third place in the Pacific Division, the Calgary Flames need to maintain their domination in the Battle of Alberta when they visit the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. Calgary, which holds a one-point lead over reigning Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles, has won all four meetings against the Oilers this season and goes for its seventh consecutive victory overall in the series and sixth in a row at Edmonton.
Colorado at Los Angeles 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings look to maintain their hold on a playoff spot when they host the hopeful Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. Los Angeles enters with possession of the second wild card in the Western Conference as it is even in points with Winnipeg but owns the tiebreaker.
