Preview Roundups
March 23, 2014
Columbus at NY Islanders 1:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets look to continue their dominance of the New York Islanders on Sunday, when the Metropolitan Division rivals meet on Long Island. The Blue Jackets won both of their previous meetings with the Islanders this season and are 11-1-3 with one tie in the all-time series. Columbus certainly can benefit from another victory against the cellar dwellers, as it has dropped one point behind Detroit for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
St. Louis at Pittsburgh 1:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues cap their weekend tour of Pennsylvania on Sunday when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins in a battle of division leaders. The Penguins hold a comfortable lead atop the Metropolitan Division, while the Blues are four points clear of Chicago in the Central. St. Louis defeated Pittsburgh 2-1 at home on Nov. 9 in the only other meeting between the teams in the last two years.
Toronto at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils welcome back a former member for the second time in three games when they host David Clarkson and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. Clarkson, who signed with Toronto as a free agent last summer after spending the first seven seasons of his NHL career with the Devils, returns to New Jersey three days after former captain Zach Parise visited for the first time as a member of the Minnesota Wild.
Nashville at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks are beginning to round into form on the defensive end with the playoffs only a few weeks away. Chicago has allowed only 23 goals in the last 13 games and looks to extend a four-game point streak when the Nashville Predators pay a visit on Sunday night. The Blackhawks have surrendered five goals in regulation during a 3-0-1 stretch and will take on a Predators team that scored seven on them earlier in the season and beat Calgary 6-5 on Friday.
Minnesota at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings' three-game winning streak has catapulted them into the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Red Wings look to strengthen their chances for a 23rd consecutive postseason appearance when they attempt to complete a home-and-home sweep of the visiting Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
Buffalo at Vancouver 8:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks may welcome back a pair of familiar faces to the lineup for Sunday's home contest against the Buffalo Sabres. Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler are in line to return from nine- and four-game absences, respectively, as the Canucks continue their push for a postseason spot. Sedin, who is mired in a 22-game goalless drought, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury while Kesler has been idled by a sprained knee.
Florida at Anaheim 8:00 PM ET
The slumping Anaheim Ducks have a chance to begin turning around their fortunes when they host the Florida Panthers on Sunday. Anaheim, which got off to a fantastic start and spent much of the season atop the Pacific Division, has fallen out of first place as it has lost six of its last eight games (2-4-2). The Ducks officially dropped to second on Thursday as they squandered a third-period lead en route to a 3-2 loss at San Jose.
