Preview Roundups
March 16, 2015
Washington at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals picked the perfect time to break out of a slump as they prepare to open a three-game road trip against the league-worst Buffalo Sabres on Monday night. Washington blanked Boston 2-0 on Sunday night for just its fourth victory in 10 games and moved two points clear of the Bruins for the top wild card in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals have lost three of the last five to Buffalo but drubbed the Sabres 6-1 in Washington on March 7.
Montreal at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
After being unceremoniously swept aside in last year's first-round playoff series, the Tampa Bay Lightning have outscored the Montreal Canadiens by a 12-3 margin en route to winning the first three meetings this season. The Lightning look to continue their dominance and pull even in points with the Canadiens atop the Atlantic Division when they play the second contest of a six-game homestand on Monday. Tampa Bay has dropped two in a row.
Toronto at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
Victories have been few and far between this season for the disappointing Toronto Maple Leafs, who rapidly excused themselves from any potential playoff talk by losing 31 of their last 39 games (8-28-3). If one's searching for positives, the visiting Maple Leafs will carry a six-game winning streak against the Edmonton Oilers when the struggling clubs meet at Rexall Place on Monday.
Arizona at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
With points at a premium in the hotly contested Western Conference, the Los Angeles Kings must take advantage of a free-falling opponent when they host the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. The reigning Stanley Cup champions are one point out of the second wild card in the West and sit two back of Calgary for third place in the Pacific Division. Los Angeles had a five-game point streak halted Saturday night, allowing a pair of third-period goals in a 2-1 loss to Nashville.
