Preview Roundups
March 09, 2015
NY Islanders at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The New York Islanders look to strengthen their tenuous grasp on the Metropolitan Division lead when they conclude a four-game road trip against the sputtering Toronto Maple Leafs of Monday. Captain John Tavares scored his career-high 32nd goal and added two assists in New York's 4-3 shootout loss to Florida on Saturday to claim the lead in the race for the Art Ross Trophy with 70 points.
Edmonton at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings look to avoid a third straight loss when they host the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. After edging the New York Rangers in overtime for its third consecutive victory, Detroit allowed five goals in setbacks to Calgary on Friday and at Boston two days later. The Red Wings currently are third in the Atlantic Division, five points behind second-place Tampa Bay and seven ahead of the Bruins.
Anaheim at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks own the NHL's best record and have won seven of their last nine games, but that hasn't stopped coach Bruce Boudreau from tinkering with his lines. Anaheim begins a three-game road trip - all against teams in Stanley Cup playoff position - in Vancouver against the Canucks on Monday, and it appears Boudreau will again break up captain Ryan Getzlaf (team-high 61 points) and Corey Perry (club-best 28 goals) in an attempt to get more scoring throughout the lineup.
Nashville at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators look to put an end to their losing streak and complete a sweep of the three-game season series when they begin a four-game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Nashville has watched its lead in the race for the Presidents' Trophy disappear as it has dropped a season-high six straight games, including a 3-1 home decision to Winnipeg on Saturday.
Pittsburgh at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins look to complete a perfect three-game sweep of the California contingent when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Monday. Patric Hornqvist has fueled the Penguins to six wins in their last seven contests, collecting seven goals and two assists in that stretch. The 28-year-old Swede scored twice in Friday's 5-2 victory over league-leading Anaheim before netting his 22nd goal in a 1-0 overtime triumph versus Los Angeles the following night.
