Preview Roundups
February 28, 2014
San Jose at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Olympic break did little to slow down Joe Pavelski. After recording his second hat trick this season, Pavelski looks to send the San Jose Sharks to their fifth win in six games when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. The United States Olympian scored three times during a five-goal second period in San Jose's 7-3 rout of Philadelphia on Thursday to run his career-high total to 32 tallies.
Phoenix at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Phoenix Coyotes attempt to wrap up their three-game road trip on a winning note when they visit the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. Phoenix began its trek with a 2-1 loss at Dallas on Feb. 8 and returned from the Olympic break to drop a 3-2 shootout decision in Winnipeg on Thursday. Martin Hanzal scored a power-play goal in the third period to forge a tie, but former Coyote Olli Jokinen netted the decisive tally in the fourth round of the bonus format.
Minnesota at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild look to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. Minnesota posted one-goal home victories over Tampa Bay and Nashville prior to the Olympic break before blanking the Oilers 3-0 in Edmonton on Thursday. Mikael Granlund, Stephane Veilleux and Dany Heatley scored while Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves en route to his second career shutout.
St. Louis at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
After beginning the season nearly unbeatable at home (20-0-2), the Anaheim Ducks have stumbled in five of their last seven games at the Honda Center. The Ducks look to regain their footing and vie for their first season sweep of St. Louis when they return from the Olympic break to host the Blues on Friday.
