Preview Roundups
February 16, 2017
Ottawa at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils have a chance make up ground in their bid for a playoff spot with a favorable schedule awaiting them for the rest of the month. New Jersey, which sits five points out of the second wild card, plays five of its next six games at Prudential Center, including Thursday's matchup against the Ottawa Senators.
NY Rangers at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers are the hottest team in hockey and will hope to continue that momentum at the expense of their nearest rival when they cross boroughs to visit the New York Islanders on Thursday night. The surging Rangers are perfect in February, improving to 6-0-0 following Monday's 3-2 victory at Columbus.
Winnipeg at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Sidney Crosby's recent scoring "woes" - well, by his standards - could be in line to come to an end considering the two-time Hart Trophy winner's dominating ways against the current Winnipeg Jets' franchise. One point shy of 1,000 for his career, Crosby looks to reach the milestone on Thursday as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Jets.
Colorado at Buffalo 7:30 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres have gone 10 games in a row without posting consecutive victories, but they have a chance to end that drought when they host the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. Colorado owns the league's worst record but has enjoyed success in Buffalo with a 6-1-1 record in its last eight visits.
Vancouver at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues have been a different team since Mike Yeo replaced Ken Hitchcock as coach, and they look to continue riding the wave when the road-weary Vancouver Canucks pay them a visit on Thursday. The Blues completed a perfect five-game road trip during which they allowed a total of three goals with a 2-0 victory at Detroit on Wednesday and are 6-1-0 since Yeo took charge.
Dallas at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
After failing to make a dent in its last outing, the Minnesota Wild's fourth-ranked offense looks to continue its barrage of the Dallas Stars on Thursday when the Central Division rivals wrap up their five-game season series at Xcel Energy Center. The Western Conference-leading Wild registered 37 shots but failed to solve Anaheim's John Gibson in Tuesday's 1-0 setback, dropping Minnesota to 2-1-1 on its season-high eight-game homestand and 26-5-3 since Dec. 2.
Philadelphia at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers are on pace to end their 10-year playoff drought, but they still have a division title in their sights. Edmonton continues its quest for first place in the Pacific when it wraps up a three-game homestand Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Arizona at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings look to hit the ground running after their schedule break and vie for their sixth win in eight outings overall and third in as many encounters this season versus the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday when the Pacific Division rivals meet at Staples Center. Jeff Carter had two goals and two assists in last week's 6-3 victory over Florida and set up Jake Muzzin's power-play goal with 1:49 to play in a 3-2 triumph over Arizona.
