Preview Roundups
February 14, 2015
Edmonton at Ottawa 2:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers wrap up the eastern portion of their road trip with a visit to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. The Senators have points in their last two contests following a three-game losing streak, while the Oilers are 2-2-0 on their road trip. Ottawa posted a 4-3 overtime win in Edmonton on Nov. 13 and is 5-2-1 against Pacific Division opponents.
Toronto at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs seek their elusive first road win of 2015 when they visit the Atlantic Division-rival Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Toronto has not recorded a victory away from home since edging Boston in a shootout on Dec. 31, going 0-11-1 while scoring fewer than two goals in nine of those contests.
Winnipeg at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings remain in close pursuit of Tampa Bay and Montreal for first place in the Atlantic Division and go for their 10th victory in 12 games when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. All-Star goaltender Jimmy Howard will make his first start since Jan. 10 for the Red Wings, who are one of two teams that have yet to lose back-to-back games in regulation. Detroit, which is coming off a 4-1 defeat at Pittsburgh on Wednesday, has won six straight at home.
Columbus at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets face an uphill climb in their quest for an Eastern Conference playoff berth - and while Friday provided some help in that regard, things are about to get a whole lot tougher. The Blue Jackets look to build off the momentum of an incredible comeback win as they kick off a five-game road trip Saturday night against the formidable New York Islanders. Columbus upended Philadelphia 4-3 in overtime after rallying from two goals down.
New Jersey at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators finally look to have their power play on track, and that should strike fear into the hearts of the 29 other NHL teams. The Predators hope to continue their recent success with the man advantage - and extend their winning streak to five games - as they entertain the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. Nashville converted twice on the power play in Thursday's 3-1 win over Winnipeg, while New Jersey is coming off a 3-1 loss to Chicago on Friday.
Carolina at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild were in freefall while suffering six straight defeats and owned the third-least points in the Western Conference a month ago. The Wild lost in regulation just once in 12 games since while the addition of goalie Devan Dubnyk and their improved play on both ends of the ice has pulled them within two points of playoff position as they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Minnesota allowed nine goals in the last eight games and can extend its point streak to 10 games.
NY Rangers at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
Alain Vigneault vies for his 500th career coaching victory as the New York Rangers continue their four-game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. Vigneault moved into a tie with Terry Murray following New York's 6-3 triumph over Colorado on Thursday and could pull even with Toe Blake with a win on Saturday, one victory behind Pat Burns (501) for 19th place all-time in league history.
Dallas at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
Newly acquired goaltender Jhonas Enroth is expected to make his debut with the Dallas Stars when they visit the skidding Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. Enroth, the No. 1 netminder with Buffalo prior to Wednesday's trade, will provide a solid tandem with starter Kari Lehtonen, who blanked Florida on Friday for Dallas' third straight win. The latest victory proved costly for the Stars as forwards Tyler Seguin, Patrick Eaves and Ales Hemsky were all injured.
Vancouver at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames began a stretch of nine wins in 13 games with a 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks last month. The Flames look to rebound from their latest setback and even their four-game season series with Vancouver when they open a four-game homestand against their Pacific Division rival on Saturday.
Washington at Los Angeles 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings attempt to record their fourth consecutive victory when they host the Washington Capitals in the middle contest of their three-game homestand. Los Angeles wrapped up its five-game road trip with a pair of wins before skating to a 5-3 triumph over Calgary in the opener of its string at Staples Center on Thursday.
