Montreal at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens have turned their fortunes around with a three-game winning streak and look to continue the recovery when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. The Canadiens suffered through a 1-8-1 stretch before Ben Scrivens shut the door in net and Tomas Plekanec provided offense in wins over Edmonton, Carolina and Tampa Bay.
Los Angeles at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers aim for their fifth consecutive victory when they host the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Kings on Friday. New York's December swoon has become a distant memory as the club has followed a 6-4-1 month of January by posting its first four-game winning streak since a nine-game run from Oct. 25-Nov. 15.
Pittsburgh at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes kick off their weekend celebration honoring the 10-year anniversary of the franchise's lone Stanley Cup title on Friday when they open a three-game homestand against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Cam Ward, who won the 2006 Conn Smythe Trophy, would love nothing more than another chance to compete for the Stanley Cup as he plays in the final season of a six-year, $37.8 million contract.
Colorado at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
Detroit general manager Ken Holland told reporters Wednesday that Petr Mrazek would be the Red Wings' No. 1 goaltender for the rest of the season, but the game log shows it's been that way for quite some time. Mrazek, who is 10-2-1 in his last 13 games, leads the NHL in save percentage (.934) and goals-against average (1.94) as Detroit tries for its fourth consecutive victory when it hosts the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
Nashville at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning look to rebound from a rough road trip when they begin a four-game homestand against Western Conference teams with a visit from the Nashville Predators on Friday. The Lightning had won 10 of their previous 11 contests before allowing nine goals in losses at Ottawa and Montreal earlier in the week.
St. Louis at Florida 7:30 PM ET
Off to the second-best start in franchise history, the Florida Panthers will begin a six-game homestand on Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues. The surprising Panthers, who hold a six-point lead over the Detroit Red Wings atop the Atlantic Division, will face five opponents from the Western Conference on the homestand.
Calgary at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames attempt to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the Pacific Division-rival Arizona Coyotes on Friday. Calgary, which trails Nashville by five points for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, improved to 4-1-0 this month with Thursday's 6-5 shootout triumph at San Jose.
