Preview Roundups
February 05, 2016
Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
Captain Sidney Crosby is producing big numbers again for the Pittsburgh Penguins after a slow start, scoring eight goals in his last six contests, and must raise his game even higher with injured All-Star Evgeni Malkin out of the lineup. Crosby looks to extend his point streak to nine games as the visiting Penguins vie for their fifth consecutive win Friday against the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning.
Carolina at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
It was not the start to the second half of the season the Carolina Hurricanes or Winnipeg Jets hoped for as the teams look to secure playoff spots, and as they meet at MTS Centre on Friday, the urgency is there to start playing better hockey. The Hurricanes fell flat in Wednesday’s 4-1 loss at Calgary, dropping three points out of the final berth in the Eastern Conference, while the Jets’ 5-3 loss to Dallas on Tuesday put them nine points back in the West.
Columbus at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames look to put together consecutive victories for the first time in a month when they wrap up a three-game homestand against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. Calgary halted a three-game slide with a triumph over Carolina on Wednesday and aims for its first winning streak since capturing back-to-back contests Jan. 2 and 5.
Arizona at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks attempt to extend their winning streak to six games when they host the Pacific Division-rival Arizona Coyotes on Friday. Anaheim has been on fire since late December, earning points in 14 of its last 17 games (12-3-2) to climb into third place in the division.
