Preview Roundups
January 30, 2015
Pittsburgh at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
Home ice has been a significant advantage in recent history between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New Jersey Devils. The Penguins can only hope that trend unravels Friday night as they visit Prudential Center for the fourth meeting of the season between the Metropolitan Division rivals. Pittsburgh is looking to bounce back following a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, while the Devils come in having won two straight games.
St. Louis at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues attempt to extend their season-high point streak to 10 games when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday. St. Louis improved to 8-0-1 since falling in regulation at Anaheim on Jan. 2 by posting a 5-4 shootout victory on Thursday over Nashville. All-Star defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the bonus format as the Blues concluded a 6-0-1 homestand with their third straight triumph.
Nashville at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
Three nights after stealing a point in Nashville, the Colorado Avalanche attempt to earn two when they host the Central Division-leading Predators on Friday. Colorado forged a tie when defenseman Nick Holden scored with 36 seconds remaining in the third period on Tuesday, but Craig Smith converted a breakaway chance 2:46 into overtime to give Nashville a 4-3 triumph. It was the fifth defeat in seven games for the Avalanche, with three coming after regulation.
Buffalo at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
When Ryan Miller faces his former team for the first time Friday night, he'll do so with an opportunity to extend its franchise-worst losing skid. Miller will be between the pipes for the Vancouver Canucks as they host a Buffalo Sabres team that has dropped 13 consecutive games and hasn't earned even a single point in over a month. Buffalo continued its winless 2015 Thursday night, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Edmonton Oilers for its 13th straight road defeat.
Chicago at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks continue their season-high seven-game road trip when they visit the league-leading Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Chicago fell to 1-1-0 on its trek with a disappointing 4-3 loss at Los Angeles on Wednesday, allowing the tying goal with 6:11 remaining in the third period and the winner 2:34 later. The defeat was the third in five games for the Blackhawks and dropped them to 5-6-0 this month with two contests remaining.
