Preview Roundups
January 24, 2017
Detroit at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins are mired in their longest winless drought of the season and will look to avoid a fifth consecutive setback when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. It will be the second meeting in seven days between the Original Six rivals, with the Red Wings rallying from a pair of three-goal deficits in a 6-5 shootout win in Detroit.
Los Angeles at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils' strong start at home is a distant memory, but the team attempts to get back on track when it hosts the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. New Jersey opened the season with a 10-game point streak at Prudential Center (8-0-2) but has gone 2-7-1 there since, losing its last four (0-3-1).
Columbus at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets have done an impressive job in making the 2016-17 season one for the books, and Cam Atkinson has been a central character throughout it all. Fresh off his fifth two-goal performance of the season, Atkinson looks to send the Blue Jackets to their third straight victory on Tuesday when they play the second contest of their four-game road trip against the New York Islanders.
St. Louis at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Conor Sheary has been on the roll of his young career and the Pittsburgh Penguins are riding the wave of success at home. Named the NHL's First Star of the Week, Sheary looks to extend the Penguins' winning streak to five games overall and a season-best eight at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday when the club hosts the St. Louis Blues.
Calgary at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens began January with three straight victories but only have recorded that amount over their last eight contests. The Atlantic Division leaders look to return to their winning ways when they host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.
Washington at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators continue to find ways to register points and will look to gain at least one for the fifth straight game and seventh time in eight contests on Tuesday as they host the Washington Capitals, who are riding a 14-game point streak (12-0-2). The Senators scored late in regulation Saturday and beat Toronto in a shootout before dropping a wild 7-6 overtime decision to Columbus a day later.
Buffalo at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators nearly played themselves out of playoff contention following a rocky stretch of five-plus weeks starting in early December. The Predators have since turned things by winning six of their last seven games -- matching their victory total from the previous 18 contests -- heading into Tuesday night's matchup against visiting Buffalo Sabres.
San Jose at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets attempt to make their four-game homestand a winning one — and exact some revenge in the process — when they host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday in the finale. Winnipeg, which suffered a 5-2 loss at San Jose on Jan. 16, won the first two contests of its string at MTS Centre before dropping a 3-2 decision to Anaheim on Monday.
Tampa Bay at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
Captain Jonathan Toews hopes to build off his best offensive game of the season when his Chicago Blackhawks host the struggling Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Toews, who came into Sunday with three goals in his previous 26 contests, scored once and set up three others as the Blackhawks defeated Vancouver 4-2 for their third straight victory and seventh in the last nine games.
Minnesota at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild showed signs of fatigue in letting a two-goal lead evaporate in their last contest while falling for just the fifth time in their last 24 games (19-3-2). The Wild look to rebound and set a franchise-record 13-game road point streak on Tuesday when they visit the Central Division-rival Dallas Stars.
