Preview Roundups
January 23, 2017
Los Angeles at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have played well on the road of late but remain in search of their first home win of the month. New York, which has dropped all three contests at Madison Square Garden in January, looks to change that trend when it begins a three-game homestand Monday against the Los Angeles Kings.
Carolina at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes appeared ready to move into playoff position in the Eastern Conference before last week, but three straight losses have halted their momentum. The Hurricanes will try to regain their footing and post a confidence-building victory on Monday as they visit the red-hot Washington Capitals, who have registered at least one point in 13 consecutive games (11-0-2).
Calgary at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs attempt to end their four-game homestand on a high note when they host the Calgary Flames on Monday. Toronto began its stretch at Air Canada Centre with a triumph over Buffalo but dropped the next two contests, including Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to Ottawa in which it squandered a one-goal lead with 1:11 remaining in the third period.
Anaheim at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Veteran Ondrej Pavelec no longer is the long-term goaltending solution for the Winnipeg Jets, but he has stabilized a shaky situation with two strong performances since being recalled from the minors. The Jets host the Anaheim Ducks on Monday in the third contest of a four-game homestand after Pavelec guided the team to victories over Arizona and St. Louis.
San Jose at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks aim for their fifth consecutive victory and a sweep of the home-and-home series when they visit the Colorado Avalanche on Monday. San Jose climbed within one point of first-place Anaheim in the Pacific Division on Saturday by edging Colorado 3-2 in overtime at home.
Florida at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes try to complete a sweep of Sunshine State teams at home when they host the inconsistent Florida Panthers on Monday. The Coyotes halted a four-game losing streak with Saturday’s 5-3 victory over Tampa Bay and hope to continue their offensive progress against Florida, which is winless on a four-game road trip (0-2-1) that ends in the desert.
