Preview Roundups
January 21, 2018
Philadelphia at Washington 12:30 PM ET
The Washington Capitals have not been the same team since enjoying their bye week and hope to get back on track when they host the red-hot Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon. The Capitals won six of seven games through Jan. 12 but lost in overtime at New Jersey six days later, and coach Barry Trotz told reporters after a 3-2 home loss to Montreal on Friday that too many guys were “still on vacation.”
Vegas at Carolina 6:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes aim for their first home victory of January when they host the Western Conference-leading Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. Carolina has followed a six-game winning streak at PNC Arena, which included a 5-0 mark in December, by going 0-2-1 there this month.
Vancouver at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The surprising Winnipeg Jets attempt to regain first place in the Central Division and continue their dominance at home when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. Winnipeg is one point behind red-hot Nashville in the Central thanks to a 16-3-1 record at Bell MTS Place, where it has won five in a row and 12 of its last 13.
San Jose at Anaheim 9:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks are making their push for a playoff position and look to knock off one of their chief competitors when they host the San Jose Sharks on Sunday in a key Pacific Division battle. The Ducks are 8-3-1 in their last 12 contests and took the first two of a five-game homestand, including Friday’s 2-1 triumph against rival Los Angeles.
NY Rangers at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings will try to put an end to their longest losing streak in more than 10 years when they host the New York Rangers on Sunday. Los Angeles lost 2-1 at Anaheim on Friday for its sixth straight setback - its longest skid since an eight-gamer in December 2007 - and also is in the midst of a five-game slide at home (0-4-1) as it braces for a New York team that began a four-game road trip with a 3-1 loss to red-hot Colorado on Saturday.
