Preview Roundups
January 19, 2017
Dallas at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders are looking to change course under the watch of interim coach Doug Weight while the Dallas Stars are headed in the right direction on the heels of their best offensive performance of the season. The cellar-dwelling Islanders will set sail to begin a six-game stretch at Barclays Center on Thursday when they vie for their fourth straight home win over the Stars.
Ottawa at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
Sergei Bobrovsky and the Columbus Blue Jackets have the most wins in the NHL this season, but victories have been in short supply in their last several encounters with the Ottawa Senators. Bobrovsky will look to help the Blue Jackets record consecutive wins for the first time since emerging victorious in a franchise-best 16 straight contests when they host the Senators on Thursday.
NY Rangers at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The New York Rangers have fallen off the pace in the Metropolitan Division on the heels of a season-high three-game losing streak, one they hope to end in a visit to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. New York has coughed up 16 goals during the three-game slide, which started with a 4-2 setback at home to the Maple Leafs.
Washington at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals finally had their nine-game winning streak snapped, even if it took eight goals from the reigning Stanley Cup champions to halt their run. Still, the Capitals are riding an 11-game point streak (9-0-2) as they continue their three-game road trip with a visit to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Arizona at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild have vaulted to the top of the Western Conference on the strength of its stellar play since the beginning of December. Minnesota, which has four games in hand on its closest competitors, attempts to bounce back from a rare regulation loss when it continues its four-game homestand Thursday against the Arizona Coyotes.
Nashville at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames were a disaster at home during the first month of the season but they have reversed their fortunes heading into Thursday's matchup against the visiting Nashville Predators. The Flames lost six of their first eight games at Scotiabank Saddledome this season, but are 5-1-0 at home since New Year's Eve.
Colorado at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks have embraced the new calendar year with a 7-1-1 mark to ascend to the top of the Pacific Division while the Colorado Avalanche have been snowed in shortly after the start of the season. The Ducks look to topple the reeling Avalanche for the second time in a week when the clubs meet at the Honda Center on Thursday.
Tampa Bay at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning have gained points in the first two contests on a critical six-game road trip and look to make it three when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night. The Lightning allowed 22 goals during a four-game losing streak to start January and have surrendered just eight in four contests since, including the 2-1 overtime loss at Anaheim on Tuesday.
