Preview Roundups
January 18, 2017
Arizona at Winnipeg 7:30 PM ET
In what certainly ranks as a desperation measure, the Winnipeg Jets are turning back the clock and summoning longtime starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec from the minors. Mired in a four-game losing streak in which they have surrendered 19 goals, the Jets will give Pavelec the start in Wednesday's matchup against the visiting Arizona Coyotes.
Pittsburgh at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins mustered just six goals during a three-game losing skid before matching that total in the second period of their last outing. The high-octane Penguins hope there is more in the tank on Wednesday when they open a two-game road trip against the Atlantic Division-leading Montreal Canadiens.
Boston at Detroit 8:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings are aiming for their first three-game winning streak since the first two weeks of the season when they host the Boston Bruins on Wednesday in their second straight matchup against an Original Six rival. Detroit is coming off a 1-0 victory over Montreal to earn back-to-back home wins for the first time since Oct. 22-25.
Florida at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
Despite their recent scoring struggles, the Edmonton Oilers still find themselves in the thick of the race for first place in the Pacific thanks to their current run of success at Rogers Arena. Edmonton, which trails Anaheim by four points for the top spot in the division, aims for its fourth consecutive victory as it continues its six-game homestand Wednesday against the Florida Panthers.
San Jose at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings have split their first four contests this season with the San Jose Sharks and are 3-3-0 on their current seven-game homestand. The Kings look to finish both respective stretches on a positive note Wednesday when they host their Pacific Division rivals at Staples Center.
