January 15, 2017
Philadelphia at Washington 1:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals had been quietly chugging along in the background through the first half of the season and suddenly are on the brink of owning the best record in the NHL. The Capitals look to extend their season-high winning streak to nine games when they host the scuffling Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon in a Metropolitan Division battle.
New Jersey at Vancouver 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils are beginning to find the form that led to a strong start this season and hope to keep it going when they visit the surging Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. The Devils gained at least a point in 12 of their first 15 games before suffering through a swoon that began in mid-November and lasted until after Christmas, but Friday’s 2-1 victory in Calgary gave New Jersey points in five of seven (3-2-2) this month.
Minnesota at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
Having had a day to recover from their worst loss of the season, the Chicago Blackhawks attempt to regain the division lead when they host the Central-rival Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Chicago saw its road slide reach three games Friday with its fourth shutout defeat of the season, a 6-0 trouncing in Washington that halted its four-game winning streak.
St. Louis at Anaheim 9:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks attempt to extend their winning streak and increase their lead in the Pacific Division when they open a three-game homestand Sunday against the St. Louis Blues. Anaheim posted a 3-0 triumph at Arizona on Saturday for its third consecutive victory and has outscored the opposition 9-1 during the run.
