NY Islanders at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
After concluding the Western Canadian portion of their seven-game road trip, the New York Islanders look to claim sole possession of first place in the Metropolitan Division when they visit the rival New Jersey Devils on Friday. New York, which resides one point behind Pittsburgh, emerged victorious in its first two stops of the trek to improve to 7-1-1 in a nine-game stretch before suffering a 5-2 loss to Edmonton on Sunday and a 3-2 setback to Vancouver two nights later.
Columbus at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The first game of Peter Horachek's tenure as interim head coach of the Maple Leafs looked a little too familiar to Toronto fans. Horachek seeks his first win as the Maple Leafs' part-time bench boss Friday night against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets. Toronto did a good job of restricting shots - holding Washington to just 26 - but that was about the only thing that went right for the Maple Leafs, who fell 6-2 to the Capitals for their eighth loss in the last 10 games.
Buffalo at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning have emerged from a rough eight-game stretch to re-establish themselves as a definite contender in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning look to win for the seventh time in eight games - after a 2-5-1 slump - and improve on their best start at home in franchise history when the struggling Buffalo Sabres visit on Friday night. Tampa Bay has 31 points in its first 20 games at home (15-4-1) and face a Sabres’ squad team that has dropped six straight contests.
Florida at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
Roberto Luongo was the focus of Thursday's game between the Florida Panthers and host Vancouver Canucks, but it was Jonathan Huberdeau who stole the show. Panthers fans eagerly wait to see what Huberdeau plans for an encore as he and his Florida teammates continue their Western Canada jaunt Friday against the Calgary Flames. Huberdeau scored twice and added an assist as the Panthers made Luongo a winner against his former team, earning a 3-1 victory.
Chicago at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks look to continue their dominance of the Edmonton Oilers when the Western Conference clubs meet at Rexall Place on Friday. Kane collected a goal and two assists as Chicago posted its fourth win in six games with a 4-2 victory over Minnesota on Thursday and recorded one of each in the team's 7-1 rout of Edmonton on Nov. 22. The 2013 Conn Smythe Trophy winner has notched eight goals and 15 assists during his 13-game point streak versus the Oilers.
