Preview Roundups
January 06, 2017
Nashville at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers have failed to take advantage of a stretch that has them playing eight of nine games at home, going 1-2-3 over their first six at BB&T Center — with the lone victory coming in a shootout in the opener of the string. Florida hopes to turn things around and end its five-game home slide when it hosts the Nashville Predators on Friday.
Toronto at New Jersey 7:30 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs finally had their five-game winning streak halted but they still have points in six straight contests entering a road game at the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. Toronto went beyond regulation for the fourth game in a row, giving up three third-period goals in a 6-5 overtime loss at Washington on Tuesday.
Carolina at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Western Conference-leading Chicago Blackhawks will have revenge on their minds when they continue their four-game homestand Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Chicago's 4-3 overtime victory over Buffalo in the opener of its stretch at United Center on Thursday ended a pair of losing streaks, including a two-game overall slide that began last Friday with a 3-2 setback in Carolina.
NY Islanders at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders' offense finished 2016 with a flourish, scoring at least four goals in each of their last five games to bring an air of optimism into the new year. New York is banking that its offense continues at a feverish pace on Friday when it continues its four-game road trip against an ice-cold Colorado Avalanche squad that is winless in 10 straight at home.
Calgary at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks have clawed back into playoff contention in the Western Conference and look to extend their winning streak to a season-high six games when they host the Calgary Flames on Friday in the first half of a home-and-home series. Four of Vancouver's five wins have come against Pacific Division foes, but its last loss was at Calgary on Dec. 23.
Arizona at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks are riding high at the Honda Center and will put their seven-game home point streak (6-0-1) on the line Friday against a reeling Arizona Coyotes squad that has lost eight in a row overall. John Gibson has been the primary reason for the Ducks' ascent in the Pacific Division, improving to 4-0-3 in his last seven starts with a 23-save performance in a 2-0 shutout of Detroit on Wednesday.
