Buffalo at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils received quite the spark in their last game and hope it carries over against a team in dire need of one when they host the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Jaromir Jagr recorded his 15th career hat trick in New Jersey's 5-2 victory over Philadelphia on Saturday, marking the team's third win in 13 contests (3-7-3). With 714 career goals, the 42-year-old moved within three of Hall-of-Famer Phil Esposito for fifth place on the NHL's all-time list.
Ottawa at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers entered the Christmas break on a roll but have flat-lined following the three-day hiatus, losing all five games (0-4-1). The Flyers hope to reverse their skid when they open a four-game homestand against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. Philadelphia got off to a great start on its eight-game road trip, winning the first three while amassing 16 goals, but its offense has been in a deep freeze with nine goals during the five-game drought.
Tampa Bay at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning return to the place where their season ended in a first-round playoff sweep last April when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday in a battle for first place in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning own three more regulation/overtime wins and Montreal has two games in hand coming into the showdown with an Eastern Conference-leading 54 points each. The Canadiens have won six consecutive games and nine of 10 while Tampa Bay has five victories in six contests.
Carolina at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators are tied atop the Central Division but their penchant for giving away leads is a concern entering Tuesday's home matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes. Nashville surrendered a three-goal lead for the second time in three games before winning in overtime at Los Angeles and allowed a late goal in regulation in a shootout loss at Anaheim over the weekend. "It's frustrating, but it's nothing we can't fix," Predators forward Craig Smith said.
San Jose at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild attempt to bounce back from an embarrassing loss when they face off against the San Jose Sharks in the opener of their three-game homestand on Tuesday. Minnesota allowed the game's first five goals - and surrendered five in the second period alone - en route to a 7-1 defeat Saturday at Dallas. Thomas Vanek netted the lone tally for the Wild, who lost for the seventh time in nine contests (2-4-3).
Colorado at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche need look no further than the Chicago Blackhawks to serve as a reminder of how much things have changed for them since last season. The Avalanche dominated the Blackhawks in 2013-14, winning four of five meetings en route to a first-place finish in the Central Division. It has been a different story this season for Colorado, which is buried in the division basement entering Tuesday's night's matchup in Chicago.
Columbus at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
Although they came within a whisker of winning their fifth straight contest in their last outing, the Dallas Stars attempt to seize their season-high fourth consecutive home victory when the Columbus Blue Jackets pay a visit on Tuesday. Captain Jamie Benn scored a goal and Tyler Seguin added an assist in Dallas' 5-4 overtime loss to Chicago on Sunday.
St. Louis at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues look to earn a split of their four-game road trip when they visit the Arizona Coyotes in the finale on Tuesday. St. Louis began its trek with one-goal losses at Nashville and Anaheim before rolling to a 7-2 triumph in San Jose on Saturday. T.J. Oshie registered his second career hat trick and added an assist as the Blues scored six unanswered goals after yielding tallies 40 seconds apart late in the first period to fall behind 2-1.
Detroit at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings look to notch their first victory on a six-game road trip when they visit the rejuvenated Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Detroit dropped the opener of their two-week journey at Vancouver 4-1 on Saturday and has registered only three victories in the last 11 games (3-4-4) while dropping five points out of first place in the Atlantic Division. Edmonton can extend its point streak (2-0-2) to a season-high five games after beating the New York Islanders 5-2 on Sunday.
NY Islanders at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders continue their season-high seven-game road trip Tuesday, when they face off against the Canucks in Vancouver. New York began its trek with victories at Winnipeg and Calgary before suffering a 5-2 loss in Edmonton on Sunday. Defenseman Johnny Boychuk registered a power-play goal and an assist as he returned to his hometown, but the Islanders allowed three straight tallies in the third period as their four-game point streak came to an end.
