Preview Roundups
December 23, 2016
Texas State at Tulane 2:00 PM ET
Tulane has not yet put things together on a consistent basis for first-year coach Mike Dunleavy with American Athletic Conference play just around the corner. The Green Wave will attempt to gain a little bit of confidence in their final tune-up for league play when they host Texas State of the Sun Belt Conference on Friday afternoon.
Auburn at Connecticut 2:30 PM ET
Decimated by injuries, help could be on the way for Connecticut for the second semester with the addition of prep superstar Hamidou Diallo. The Huskies, however, won't have him Friday afternoon when they host Auburn in Hartford in their final game before conference play begins.
Providence at Boston College 4:00 PM ET
Providence is streaking toward conference play, while Boston College may not be ready for ACC action when it rolls around. The two squads have their final non-conference tune-up before league play begins when the Friars visit the Eagles on Friday in the 111th meeting between the old rivals.
Northern Kentucky at West Virginia 4:00 PM ET
West Virginia hosts Northern Kentucky on Friday afternoon in its non-conference season finale and coach Bob Huggins isn't happy. The No. 12 Mountaineers overwhelmed Radford 84-57 on Tuesday, forcing 29 turnovers to raise their nation-best average to 26.4 and No. 1 turnover margin to plus-15.7, but Huggins found plenty to be concerned about with the Big 12 Conference schedule looming.
Tulsa at San Diego St. 4:30 PM ET
Tulsa was a surprise at-large selection for the NCAA Tournament last season and one of the teams it beat out for the spot was San Diego State, which may be looking for payback when the teams meet Friday in the semifinals of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu. The Aztecs won the Mountain West Conference regular-season title and owned a 25-9 record when they were passed over for a tournament berth by a group of teams that included 20-11 Tulsa, which finished third in the Americ
Rutgers at Seton Hall 6:30 PM ET
New Jersey stat rivals Rutgers and Seton Hall already met 67 times but never with both teams riding a five-game winning streak, which is the case in Friday's Garden State Hardwood Classic. The host Pirates won three straight in the series, including the last two by an average of 28 points, and will likely provide Rutgers with its toughest test of the season.
Georgia at Oakland 7:00 PM ET
Yante Maten has established himself as one of the top players in the SEC, and the Georgia forward will see plenty of familiar faces Friday when his team travels to Michigan to face Oakland. Maten grew up near Oakland’s campus and played on the Golden Grizzlies’ home court several times in high school, and a large contingent of family and friends will be in attendance to see the SEC’s second-leading scorer and rebounder.
Arkansas St. at Minnesota 7:00 PM ET
Minnesota plays its final non-conference foe of the season before the Big Ten portion of its schedule when it hosts Arkansas State on Friday night. The Golden Gophers have been nearly perfect this season, winning their last five contests after the only blemish on their record, a road loss to Florida State.
Harvard at Houston 8:00 PM ET
Damyean Dotson proved he could do a bit of everything in 2015-16 when he was one of three players to finish inside the top 11 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring and rebounding, but his game has reached another level this month. Houston's versatile guard looks to help the Cougars move to 10-2 for the second straight season Friday when they host surging Harvard.
DePaul at Missouri St. 8:30 PM ET
DePaul and Missouri State square off for the second time this season Friday when the teams meet in the consolation game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. DePaul trailed for most of the game in the first meeting Nov. 23 before Billy Garrett Jr.’s last-second jumper gave the Blue Demons a 68-66 victory.
Florida A&M at Wisconsin 9:00 PM ET

No. 14 Wisconsin aims for its seventh consecutive victory when it hosts Florida A&M in its final non-conference contest on Friday. The Badgers have won their last six games by an average margin of 23.2 points, including five double-digit victories, and should keep rolling against a Rattlers squad that hasn’t beaten an NCAA team this season.

Wyoming at Southern California 11:00 PM ET
Two of the most surprising teams in the country meet Friday as Wyoming takes on No. 25 USC in the championship game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Wyoming is off to a 10-2 start after being picked to finish 10th in the Mountain West Conference, while USC improved to 12-0 with Thursday’s 83-75 win over Missouri State.
Utah at Hawaii 11:59 PM ET
Utah was dealt a big blow in its first-round loss at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu and will try to salvage its trip in the consolation round beginning Friday against tournament host Hawaii. Kyle Kuzma, a versatile 6-9 forward who was averaging 16 points and 11.3 rebounds coming into the tournament, suffered an ankle injury in the opening minute Thursday against San Francisco and didn't return for the Utes in the 89-86 loss.
