Preview Roundups
December 13, 2015
Syracuse at St. John's 12:00 PM ET
Syracuse and St. John's each are coming off a strong defensive performance, so points could be at a premium Sunday when the Orange visit the Red Storm. The former Big East rivals had engaged in a lopsided series - Syracuse had won nine in a row - before St. John's prevailed at the Carrier Dome, 69-57, a season ago.
Rhode Island at Nebraska 2:00 PM ET

With the hopes of getting better post play and breaking a four-game losing skid to in-state rival Creighton on Wednesday, Nebraska coach Tim Miles juggled his starting lineup for the third straight game. The result -- a double-digit loss -- could signal more lineup changes for the Cornhuskers when they host Rhode Island on Sunday.

Loyola-Chicago at Notre Dame 2:00 PM ET
Notre Dame has been playing better of late, and coach Mike Brey's squad will look to extend its two-game winning streak when it hosts Loyola Chicago on Sunday afternoon. After dropping two of three at the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando, the Fighting Irish have won at Illinois and routed Stony Brook at home, building some momentum while heading toward the ACC portion of their schedule.
No.Carolina A&T at East Carolina 2:00 PM ET
Being a great shooter himself, East Carolina coach Jeff Lebo never panicked when his star sophomore, B.J. Tyson, started the season in a major slump. Tyson certainly has emerged from his doldrums and will lead the Pirates against North Carolina A&T in a non-conference game on Sunday.
St. Peter's at Seton Hall 2:30 PM ET
Although it hasn’t cost the team a win in either of the last two victories, Seton Hall has shown a tendency to lose focus early in games. The Pirates look to put together a more complete effort against their most familiar non-conference rival on Sunday when they host Saint Peter’s.
Tulsa at Missouri St. 3:00 PM ET
Tulsa visits Missouri State on Sunday to renew their back-and-forth rivalry from the last seven years. The two teams have met every season since 2008, with neither team able to post a victory in consecutive years.
Southeastern Louisiana at Florida St. 3:00 PM ET
Florida State looks to build on a big road win at VCU when it returns home on Sunday to face Southeastern Louisiana. The Seminoles' dynamic freshman duo of Malik Beasley and Dwayne Bacon will be a handful for the struggling Lions to handle.
Lamar at Virginia Tech 3:00 PM ET
After it ended a long road drought, Virginia Tech returns home Sunday to take on a high-scoring Lamar squad. The Hokies had yet to win a road game under second-year coach Buzz Williams, dropping 11 in a row before a 74-65 triumph at Radford on Wednesday.

Yale at Southern California 4:00 PM ET
USC, off to its best start since the 2006-07 squad opened with a 9-2 record, plays the second contest of its five-game homestand on Sunday as it hosts Yale. The Trojans bring in a modest two-game winning streak after back-to-back 10-point losses to Xavier (87-77) and Monmouth (83-73) at the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando, Fla, including a 74-55 victory over Idaho on Monday.
St. Joseph's at Temple 4:00 PM ET
After suffering a tough loss to one of its biggest rivals last season, Temple aims for a measure of revenge Sunday against visiting Saint Joseph's. The Philadelphia schools and former Atlantic 10 rivals are meeting for the 158th time, although not many of those matchups have been closer than last year's 58-56 win by the Hawks.
N.C. State at South Florida 4:00 PM ET
North Carolina State looks to carry over the emotion from its best offensive output since 2004 as the Wolfpack visit struggling USF on Sunday afternoon. Three players registered at least 20 points for the first time since 1990 in N.C. State’s 99-86 victory over Bucknell on Dec. 5 after scoring just 59 four days earlier in a loss to Michigan.
Morehead St. at Pittsburgh 4:00 PM ET
Eastern Washington coach Jim Hayford was certainly impressed with Pittsburgh and Michael Young on Friday. An undersized Morehead State team will try to stop the 6-9 forward when they visit the Panthers on Sunday in the Gotham Classic.
Louisiana-Monroe at West Virginia 5:00 PM ET
West Virginia looks to bounce back from its first loss on Sunday as the 14th-ranked Mountaineers host ULM, which is playing the second game of a back-to-back after losing 54-50 at Penn State on Saturday. The Warhawks are facing a rested West Virginia team that was held to six second-half baskets in last Tuesday’s 70-54 loss to Virginia in New York City.
Maine at Boston College 5:00 PM ET
Now sufficiently clear of an illness that hindered the team's preparation early in the week, Boston College will try to snap a six-game losing streak Sunday at home against Maine. The Eagles were able to get 11 players on the court in a visit to No. 18 Providence on Wednesday, but effectiveness remained elusive in a 66-51 setback.
La Salle at Villanova 5:00 PM ET
Villanova's trip to Hawaii was anything but majestic, leaving the Wildcats to pick up the pieces when they host La Salle in a Philadelphia rivalry game on Sunday. The Wildcats had their seven-game winning streak snapped in ugly fashion in Honolulu as eighth-ranked Oklahoma drained 14 3-pointers in a 78-55 defeat of No. 6 Villanova.
Louisiana State at Houston 5:30 PM ET
Ben Simmons is quickly earning a reputation for doing something very few have ever seen every time he takes the floor, although it hasn’t always been enough to carry LSU to a win. Fresh off a 10-day break to focus on final exams after the 6-10 freshman became the first major college basketball player in the last 20 years to post at least 40 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a single game, the Tigers eye their first road win of the season on Sunday against Houston.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Iowa St. 6:00 PM ET

The focus of the nation’s second-ranked team will be put to the test on Sunday. Lodged between Thursday’s stirring comeback win over visiting Iowa, semester finals and a neutral-court matchup against another in-state rival (Northern Iowa), Iowa State hosts struggling Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Hilton Coliseum.

Texas-El Paso at Washington St. 6:00 PM ET
Ernie Kent's first game as Washington State coach was a 65-52 loss at UTEP in the opener last season. His Cougars seek to avenge that loss when the Miners visit Pullman on Sunday.
Alabama at Clemson 6:00 PM ET
Fans of Alabama and Clemson would love to see them hook up on the football field in early January but, for now, they'll have to settle for a non-conference matchup on the basketball court Sunday. Both teams are looking to prove themselves as host Clemson comes in with losses in two of three games against major-conference opponents while the Crimson Tide have to adjust to a season-ending injury to starting guard Dazon Ingram.
Chicago St. at Northwestern 7:00 PM ET
Northwestern looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts Chicago State on Sunday. The Wildcats have notched four straight victories, including a 67-62 win over Missouri and an 81-79 overtime triumph against Virginia Tech, to post their best start since opening the 2011-12 season with a 10-1 record.
Missouri at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
Arizona's depth could be tested even more Sunday night, when the No. 12 Wildcats host Missouri in a nonconference game. Already without two key players due to serious leg injuries, Arizona cringed as starting point guard Kadeem Allen went to the floor with a non-contact ankle injury during Wednesday's victory against Fresno State, though the prognosis isn't as dire as initially expected.
