Preview Roundups
November 30, 2016
New Hampshire at Providence 6:30 PM ET
Providence will try to build on a solid showing against the nation's best defensive team and avoid looking too far ahead when it hosts New Hampshire on Wednesday. The Friars were within six points midway through the second half against unbeaten Virginia on Saturday before falling 63-52 in the Emerald Coast Classic, scoring the most points against the vaunted Cavaliers this season.
Coppin St. at Georgetown 6:30 PM ET
With a showdown with rival Syracuse coming up in 2 1/2 weeks, Georgetown will need to be much sharper than it has been so far - and four straight home games against inferior opponents should give coach John Thompson III plenty of time to work out the kinks. The Hoyas look to secure their first winning streak of the season Wednesday night as they entertain Coppin State in the second game of their homestand.
Morehouse at Georgia 7:00 PM ET
Georgia coach Mark Fox knew his team would be tired playing for the third time in five days Friday, but there will be no excuse for a stumbling start Wednesday at home against Morehouse. The Bulldogs eventually shrugged off a sluggish beginning to beat Gardner-Webb 77-59 on Friday in the opener of a five-game homestand, getting yet another double-figure scoring output from Yante Maten.
Washington at Texas Christian 7:00 PM ET
First-year TCU coach Jamie Dixon will try to close out a perfect first month of the season when his Horned Frogs host Washington on Wednesday night. It's the second time in five days the two teams have played with the Horned Frogs pulling away late for a 93-80 victory in the first meeting on Saturday night in the championship game of the Global Sports Classic in Las Vegas.
Stetson at Central Florida 7:00 PM ET
Central Florida looks to continue its strong start while maintaining its dominance over Stetson when it hosts its nearby rival on Wednesday. The Knights, who have defeated the Hatters 16 consecutive times, are likely to continue that streak if they continue to dominate on the defensive end of the court like they have thus far.
Boston U at Connecticut 7:00 PM ET
Connecticut limped home from the Maui Invitational with two more losses and a daunting list of injuries. With their season already on the brink of ruin, the Huskies try to recover when they host Boston University at the XL Center in Hartford on Wednesday.
Temple at St. Joseph's 7:00 PM ET
To say Temple is having an up-and-down season would be an understatement as the Owls prepare for a week of Big 5 fun in Philadelphia beginning with Wednesday's contest at Saint Joseph's. It looked like Temple was in trouble after consecutive losses to New Hampshire and Massachusetts dropped it to 1-2, but three straight victories - the last an 81-77 upset over No. 19 West Virginia in the NIT Tip-Off tournament final Friday - have the Owls sitting on a loftier perch.
Virginia Tech at Michigan 7:15 PM ET
Michigan looks to climb back into the Top 25 when it hosts Virginia Tech as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday. The Wolverines entered the Coaches' Poll for the first time in over a year by winning the 2K Classic in New York City, but tumbled out after just a one-week stay following a 61-46 setback to No. 23 South Carolina; they'll look to get back on track by extending their non-conference home winning steak to nine games.
Purdue at Louisville 7:15 PM ET
Rick Pitino may have 750 wins on his college resume, but even a Hall-of-Fame coach with impeccable on-court credentials can suffer from a lapse of judgement. With five full days of rest following their runner-up finish in the Battle 4 Atlantis, his 14th-ranked Cardinals hope to rebound from a disappointing defeat Wednesday when they host No. 16 Purdue as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Rutgers at Miami-Florida 7:15 PM ET
Miami hopes to regain its shooting touch after scoring only 56 points in losses to No. 21 Iowa State and Florida when it hosts unbeaten Rutgers in an ACC-Big 10 Challenge game on Wednesday. The Big 10's Scarlet Knights can match last season's win total of seven if they prevail in their toughest test of 2016-17 to date.
Incarnate Word at Texas Tech 7:30 PM ET
Texas Tech seeks another easy win when it emerges from a much-needed four-day break to host in-state foe Incarnate Word on Wednesday. The Red Raiders have suffered one two-point loss while piling up five blowout victories on the young season, the latest a 91-58 rout of Idaho State on Friday in the team's fourth game in seven days.
Middle Tennessee St. at Mississippi 8:00 PM ET

Two unranked teams off to terrific starts use each other as a measuring stick when Middle Tennessee State travels to Ole Miss on Wednesday. The host Rebels are 5-1, while Middle Tennessee State (6-1) rolls in with a four-game winning streak.

Green Bay at Kansas St. 8:00 PM ET
Kansas State looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it hosts Green Bay on Wednesday. The Wildcats had won their first five games by an average margin of 20 points before dropping a 69-68 decision to No. 22 Maryland in the championship game of the Barclays Center Classic; they hope to get back on track by extending their non-conference home winning streak to 12 games.
Rogers State at Oklahoma St. 8:00 PM ET
Oklahoma State and first-year coach Brad Underwood has had a week off to digest its performance at the Maui Invitational. The Cowboys will take the lessons learned in Hawaii to the floor Wednesday when NAIA member Rogers State visits.
Drake at DePaul 8:30 PM ET
Whatever has changed for Billy Garrett, Jr. from the first two games is working as the senior is playing as well as he ever has for DePaul, which closes a season-opening five-game homestand Wednesday against Drake. Garrett scored a season-high 23 points and made the winning shot as time expired against Missouri State to give the Blue Demons their third victory.
Western Carolina at Marquette 8:30 PM ET
Another 100-point game could be in store for Marquette when it plays the finale of a three-game homestand Monday against Western Carolina. The Golden Eagles are riding high after putting up 104 and 101 points, respectively, in wins over IUPUI and Houston Baptist and a repeat is in the offing against the Catamounts, who have twice allowed more than 90 points.
Southern Methodist at Boise St. 9:00 PM ET
Two squads searching to settle into a groove square off on Wednesday when SMU visits Boise State in nonconference play. The Mustangs have dropped two of their past three games, including a 78-73 road defeat against USC on Friday, while the Broncos suffered a road loss at Oregon on Monday.
Jackson State at Memphis 9:00 PM ET
Memphis returns home after a split at the Emerald Coast Classic over the weekend, hosting non-conference foe Jackson State on Wednesday night. The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season to Providence, before playing one of their best offensive games of the season in a 100-92 win over Iowa.
Texas Southern at Arizona 9:00 PM ET

No. 15 Arizona looks to get back on track following its first loss of the season when it hosts Texas Southern on Wednesday. It’s a rematch of a first-round contest in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, which the Wildcats won 93-72.

Colorado St. at Colorado 9:00 PM ET

Colorado and Colorado State renew their hardcourt rivalry Wednesday night as the Buffaloes host the Rams at the Coors Events Center. Both teams bring 5-1 records into the contest, but for Colorado it’s been an uneven start.

Louisiana Tech at California 9:00 PM ET
California star forward Ivan Rabb is starting to look like his old self, which is bad news for the Bears’ upcoming opponents. The preseason All-American looks to take another step forward Wednesday as the Bears face visiting Louisiana Tech, which was picked to finish seventh in Conference USA.
Sam Houston St. at Baylor 9:00 PM ET
One would think that with wins over three ranked teams already this season and a Battle 4 Atlantis tournament title under his belt, Baylor coach Scott Drew would be satisfied with his 11th-ranked team. However, with another big game on the slate this weekend, Drew will try and keep his team grounded when in-state foe Sam Houston State visits Wednesday.
Nebraska at Clemson 9:15 PM ET
While overall success has been fleeting in four-plus seasons under coach Tim Miles, Nebraska has more than held its own in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, especially on the road. The Cornhuskers hope to improve to 3-0 in such contests Wednesday when they travel to Clemson for the first meeting between the schools.
North Carolina at Indiana 9:15 PM ET
Roy Williams will coach his 1,000th collegiate game when third-ranked North Carolina visits No. 10 Indiana on Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Williams - who is 790-209 in 29 seasons at both Kansas and North Carolina - and the Tar Heels are 7-0 to start a season for the first time since 2008-09 after winning the Maui Invitational in Hawaii.
Ohio St. at Virginia 9:15 PM ET
Sixth-ranked Virginia cruised through the first six games with plenty of new faces in key roles, but the test becomes more difficult when Ohio State pays a visit in the ACC/Big Ten on Wednesday. The Cavaliers began life without leading scorers Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gill this season and Memphis transfer Austin Nichols was dismissed from the team after the second game.
Southern California at San Diego 10:00 PM ET
USC is off to its best start in 16 years and the Trojans will try to keep it going when they travel to San Diego for a non-conference game Wednesday night. USC has won its first six games for the first time since starting 8-0 in 2000, a season that ended with a berth in the Elite Eight.
Utah Valley at Washington St. 10:00 PM ET
Washington State finished last in the Pac-12 Conference in 2015-16 and was picked to do so again in the preseason poll, so a lackluster start to 2016-17 doesn't inspire many to believe a much different fate awaits the Cougars. Washington State tries to snap a two-game slide Wednesday when it hosts Utah Valley, which rides a four-game winning streak with the last two coming in impressive fashion.
Western Oregon at Oregon 10:00 PM ET
With four returning starters from a team that finished 31-7 and advanced to the Elite Eight, there were high expectations for the Oregon Ducks entering the 2016-17 season. But Dana Altman's squad, which hosts Division II Western Oregon on Wednesday night, has puttered to a 5-2 start out of the gate.
St. Mary's at Stanford 11:00 PM ET
These are heady times for 13th-ranked and unbeaten Saint Mary’s, which takes a short road trip Wednesday to face a Stanford team off to a 6-1 start under new coach Jerod Haase. Junior center Jock Landale is averaging 21 points and 9.2 rebounds to lead a Gaels squad that is shooting a remarkable 52.8 percent from the field but will be tested by Stanford’s improved defense.
UC Riverside at UCLA 11:00 PM ET
UCLA will face its stiffest test of the season this week, but first the No. 9 Bruins must take care of business against visiting UC Riverside on Wednesday night. Following the game against the Highlanders, UCLA will travel east to take on No. 1 Kentucky in a nationally-televised contest Saturday afternoon - the Bruins' first matchup against a ranked team this season.
