Preview Roundups
November 29, 2016
North Dakota State at Xavier 6:30 PM ET
Seventh-ranked Xavier has plenty of weapons on the offensive end and the Musketeers are showing they can also be a good defensive team as they prepare to host North Dakota State on Tuesday. Xavier held an opponent to 12 points in a half for the first time since the shot clock came into play in 1985-86 when it routed Northern Iowa 64-42 on Saturday, and is allowing 39.8 percent shooting from the field overall.
Delaware State at St. John's 6:30 PM ET

St. John's is in desperate need of a victory as it plays its first home game in 15 days against equally struggling Delaware State on Tuesday. The Red Storm lost four straight after opening their season with a pair of home wins.

Charleston Southern at Alabama 7:00 PM ET
While it might take Alabama head coach Avery Johnson a while to iron out the many kinks of his young roster, the defense is in midseason form heading into Tuesday night's encounter with visiting Charleston Southern. Johnson's Crimson Tide carry a top-50 defense into the game, and are coming off an impressive come-from-behind 62-57 victory over Saint Louis in Las Vegas.
Villanova at Pennsylvania 7:00 PM ET
Jay Wright would like to see more consistency from his team, which has won 12 straight games dating to last season - including the 2016 national championship. No. 2 Villanova begins the Big 5 portion of its schedule Tuesday, when the defending champion visits Pennsylvania.
Pittsburgh at Maryland 7:00 PM ET
Maryland hosts Pittsburgh on Tuesday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge looking to extend its season-opening winning streak to eight games, and the No. 22-ranked Terrapins have found a way to deliver in the clutch. Five of Maryland’s victories have come by six points or fewer, including a 69-68 triumph over Kansas State in Saturday’s Barclays Classic title game.
Georgia Tech at Penn St. 7:00 PM ET
Teams among the least experienced in college basketball meet Tuesday when Georgia Tech visits Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Nittany Lions started three freshmen in the season opener for the first time in school history, while research by ESPN showed that the Yellow Jackets are the least experienced team in Division I.
Hampton at East Carolina 7:00 PM ET
B.J. Tyson and East Carolina rebounded from a disappointing loss to knock off Air Force and finish third in the Savannah Invitational over the weekend. Tyson, who is second on the team in scoring (14.4 points) and assists (25), returns home, where the Pirates put their undefeated home record on the line against Hampton on Tuesday.
Syracuse at Wisconsin 7:30 PM ET
One game after struggling on offense and defense, Wisconsin essentially flipped the script in its latest victory. The 17th-ranked Badgers took care of a small-school opponent their last time out but will face a tougher task Tuesday, when they host No. 24 Syracuse in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
South Carolina Upstate at Auburn 8:00 PM ET
Auburn's run through the Cancun Challenge ended with a thud, but the Tigers were encouraged by their play overall so far. They hope to build off some solid play and carry momentum into Tuesday's meeting with visiting South Carolina Upstate.
Tennessee St. at Vanderbilt 8:00 PM ET
The last time Vanderbilt fans saw their Commodores at Memorial Gymnasium, they were stunned by Bucknell. Tennessee State, off to an historic start, has a chance to give Vanderbilt a second straight home loss when it visits Tuesday evening.
Texas-Arlington at Texas 8:00 PM ET
Texas returns to the court looking to shake off a two-game losing streak when it hosts non-conference foe Texas-Arlington on Tuesday. The Longhorns went 0-2 in the Legends Classic at Brooklyn last week, falling to Northwestern and Colorado after starting the season 3-0.
Rhode Island at Valparaiso 8:00 PM ET
No. 25 Rhode Island faces a stiff test Tuesday night when it visits a dangerous Valparaiso team that has played well through a challenging non-conference slate. The Rams rebounded from a 10-point loss to then-No. 1 Duke to get past Belmont 82-73 at home on Friday.
Tulane at New Orleans 8:00 PM ET
Tulane paid dearly for scheduling up, losing five straight games and six overall ahead of Tuesday's contest at cross-town rival New Orleans. The Green Wave and coach Mike Dunleavy lost to two teams from the ACC and one each from the Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC before facing the Privateers, who led into the final minute before falling 64-62 to Tulane last December.
Northern Colorado at Oklahoma 8:00 PM ET
Oklahoma will try to avoid getting caught looking ahead to the weekend when the Sooners host Northern Colorado in a nonconference game Tuesday night. Oklahoma is scheduled to play at No. 17 Wisconsin on Saturday, but can't afford another listless effort against the Bears like the one it had in a 72-64 win Friday against visiting Abilene Christian.
Long Beach St. at Kansas 8:00 PM ET
Frank Mason III is thriving as Kansas' primary scoring option, and the senior guard looks to record his fifth 20-point performance of the campaign when the No. 5 Jayhawks host Long Beach State on Tuesday. Mason reached 20 points just four times in 109 contests over his first three seasons but is averaging 21.5 on 54.9 percent shooting while helping Kansas win five of its first six games.
Buffalo at Creighton 8:30 PM ET
Creighton showed off its ability to bury teams with its deadly long-range shooting through its first five games, then promptly turned to a rookie post player when that well dried up its last time out. Fresh off the best game of his young career, freshman Justin Patton attempts to help the 12th-ranked Bluejays match their best start to a season since 2011-12 on Tuesday when they host Buffalo.
Houston at Louisiana State 9:00 PM ET
Houston looks to remain undefeated as it takes its high-octane offense on the road Tuesday to battle LSU, which is coming off a disappointing performance in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at Paradise Island, Bahamas. The Cougars are averaging 85.2 points per game and winning by an average of 27.2, while the Tigers lost two of three in the Bahamas - including a humbling 35-point setback against Wichita State.
N.C. State at Illinois 9:00 PM ET
North Carolina State looks to pass its first true road test of the season when it faces Illinois as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday. The Wolfpack have won back-to-back games following a 79-77 victory over Loyola-Chicago, but have struggled on the road during the showcase against Big Ten opponents, dropping six of their last seven games away from Raleigh, and they hope to notch their first victory in the competition in almost three years.
Iowa at Notre Dame 9:00 PM ET
Notre Dame's first attempt against a Big Ten foe led to a regular-season title and contributed to the third-best start under 17th-year coach Mike Brey, while Iowa's first run-in with an ACC opponent resulted in its worst defeat in nearly four years. The two familiar foes reconvene for the third time since 2013 on Tuesday when the Fighting Irish host the Hawkeyes as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Michigan St at Duke 9:30 PM ET

Duke hasn’t lost a non-conference game at home since 2000, but it doesn’t often get visitors the caliber of the Michigan State squad it will host on Tuesday. The fourth-ranked Blue Devils put their 128-game non-conference home winning streak to the test – as well as their recent dominance over Tom Izzo’s team – when they host the Spartans in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
