Preview Roundups
November 22, 2016
Tennessee at Oregon 1:30 PM ET
Oregon overcame a terrible start at the Maui Invitational but couldn't come back with a strong finish, dropping the No. 12 Ducks into the consolation round where they will face Tennessee on Tuesday at the Lahaina Civic Center. Oregon missed its first nine shots Monday against Georgetown, rallied back from a 17-point halftime deficit to take a brief lead, but then went silent again in the 65-61 loss - its second in seven days.
Texas at Colorado 3:30 PM ET
Although Texas enjoyed a 14-9 series advantage over Colorado prior to the Buffaloes' departure for the Pac-12 following the 2010-11 season, the Longhorns probably still haven't forgotten their last meeting. No. 21 Texas hopes to rebound from a surprising blowout loss Monday when it faces former Big 12 rival Colorado in the consolation game of the Legends Classic at the Barclays Center on Tuesday.
Connecticut at Chaminade 3:30 PM ET
Connecticut is off to a surprising 1-3 start and battling a growing list of injuries, but coach Kevin Ollie isn’t about to panic. Ollie and the Huskies will look to regain their footing Tuesday against Division II Chaminade in the consolation round of the Maui Invitational.
Auburn at Texas Tech 6:00 PM ET
Auburn and Texas Tech have identical records and will be coming off virtually identical victories when they meet in Mexico on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Cancun Challenge. The Tigers and Red Raiders, both of whom are off to 3-0 starts, picked up their third victories against Eastern Kentucky, with Auburn topping the Colonels by 21 points and Texas Tech winning by 19.
Northwestern at Notre Dame 6:00 PM ET
The Barclays Center served as the first stop for Notre Dame's unlikely Elite Eight run last season, and the Fighting Irish hope they can build more fond memories at the venue in March when they return for the ACC tournament. Following their third straight win in Brooklyn, N.Y., in less than a year, Notre Dame looks to keep the good times rolling as it faces Northwestern in the championship game of the Legends Classic on Tuesday.
Yale at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Pittsburgh was staring at a second straight loss when Michael Young put his teammates on his back.  Thanks to the 6-9 senior's career-high 30 points, the Panthers beat Marquette 78-75 on Friday and instead of trying to snap a two-game slide, Pittsburgh is seeking a second straight win when Yale comes to town Tuesday.
South Carolina State at Syracuse 7:00 PM ET
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim talked in the preseason about possibly playing some man-to-man defense instead of his patented 2-3 zone. But after three games, the 16th-ranked Orange look as good as ever defensively heading into Tuesday's home contest against South Carolina State in the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational.
South Florida at Florida Atlantic 7:00 PM ET
USF, without any of last season's top six scorers in the lineup, looks to build on a positive start to the season when it visits Florida Atlantic on Tuesday. The Bulls' top three scorers - Penn State junior transfer Geno Thorpe and freshmen Tulio Da Silva and Mike Bibby - are all new to the roster and will be experiencing their first road game as USF faces Conference USA member FAU, which was picked by the media to finish 12th in its league.
Stony Brook at Maryland 7:00 PM ET
Any team looking to play deep into March has to learn how to win the close games, and Maryland is getting plenty of practice at dealing with tight contests heading into Tuesday’s home matchup with Stony Brook in the Barclays Classic. The No. 23-ranked Terrapins experienced another close call Sunday, rallying to beat Towson 71-66; while Maryland is undefeated through four games, three of those victories are by six points or fewer.
Towson at Boston College 7:00 PM ET

Any win seems to be a good one these days for Boston College, but its next opponent - Towson - may be its toughest to date when they meet Tuesday. The Eagles put an end to a 20-game winning streak with two straight victories, but the Tigers took Maryland to the wire Sunday before suffering their first loss.

Florida A&M at East Carolina 7:00 PM ET
Jeff Lebo can become East Carolina's all-time winningest coach in the school's Division I era with a victory over Florida A&M on Tuesday. The Pirates continue play in the Savannah Invitational on their home court before traveling to Georgia for the final two games of the tournament Friday and Saturday.
Grambling State at Virginia 7:00 PM ET
Virginia once again is playing tight, suffocating defense and the No. 7 Cavaliers look to hold the opponent under 40 points for the third straight game when they host Grambling State in Tuesday's nonconference affair. Virginia's latest strong defensive showing came in Sunday's 62-38 victory over Yale when it limited the Bulldogs to 33.3 percent shooting from the field.
Sam Houston St. at Georgia Tech 7:30 PM ET
Coming off its first loss under new coach Josh Pastner, the adjustment period begins for Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets prepare to host Sam Houston State on Tuesday. Georgia Tech struggled offensively in Friday’s 67-61 home defeat to Ohio, a game in which nobody other than center Ben Lammers shot well, leaving Pastner to stress his team has to be more consistent in employing his up-tempo approach.
Indiana - Purdue at Marquette 7:30 PM ET
After a trip to New York didn't go nearly as well as Marquette would have hoped, the Golden Eagles look to rebound as they close out the 2K Classic on Tuesday against visiting IUPUI. Steve Wojciechowski's team dropped a pair of games at Madison Square Garden to Michigan and Pittsburgh, but has a chance to get its confidence back with three straight home games.
South Dakota at Houston 7:30 PM ET
Houston and South Dakota meet in the semifinals of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla., on Tuesday, but took very different routes to get there. The Cougars jumped out to a 24-point halftime lead and never looked back in a 93-56 rout of George Mason, while the Coyotes needed two free throws and a tip-in by senior forward Tyler Flack in the final 1:17 to edge Kent State 80-77.
Arkansas at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Two unbeaten teams from major conferences square off when Arkansas from the SEC visits Minnesota of the Big Ten on Tuesday for a matchup in the Golden Gopher Showcase. The Razorbacks come in sporting a 3-0 record while the Golden Gophers are a perfect 4-0 on the young season.
McNeese St. at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
Memphis seeks to keep its perfect record intact Tuesday, when it hosts McNeese State in a non-conference matchup. The Tigers have been on cruise control under new coach Tubby Smith, winning their first three contests by an average of 15.3 points as they rack up 87 per contest.
Robert Morris at Kansas St. 8:00 PM ET

Kansas State hardly has been challenged in its first three games, and it hopes to keep it that way when it hosts Robert Morris on Tuesday in a first-round game of the Barclays Center Classic. The Wildcats, who have won 11 straight non-conference home games, look for a routine tune-up in the first meeting between the schools before heading to Brooklyn, N.Y., this weekend for the remainder of the tournament.

Wisconsin at Georgetown 8:00 PM ET
Wisconsin was expecting to run into another top 25 team in Tuesday's semifinals at the Maui Invitational, but instead the No. 14 Badgers will take on Georgetown, which upset No. 12 Oregon in the first round. The Hoyas, who suffered an embarrassing loss last week to Arkansas State, saw their 17-point halftime lead disappear against the Ducks, but then held them scoreless for a key three-minute stretch before sinking 7-of-8 free throws in the final 42 seconds for a 65-61 win.
Purdue at Utah St. 8:30 PM ET
With more non-conference challenges ahead and then what is sure to be a dogfight in the Big Ten, No. 19 Purdue is looking forward to being tested this week in the Cancun Challenge in Mexico. That test begins Tuesday against an unbeaten Utah State squad in the semifinals of the event at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera.
UC Santa Barbara at Southern Methodist 9:00 PM ET
SMU returns home Tuesday after finishing runner-up at the 2016 2K Classic Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. If history holds, UC Santa Barbara will not have a pleasant visit to Dallas.
Indiana at IUPU - Ft. Wayne 9:00 PM ET

Although it’s technically a road game, Indiana is likely to get plenty of support when it travels to face Fort Wayne on Tuesday in the Indiana Classic. The sold-out crowd probably will be a bit torn in its allegiances when the hometown Mastodons host the fifth-ranked Hoosiers, who are making their first visit to the state’s second-largest city since 1967.

New Orleans at Southern California 9:00 PM ET
Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy paid USC the ultimate compliment after watching the visitors stun his Aggies on a last-minute rally Friday night. The surging Trojans will gladly take the kudos, as they aim for their fourth consecutive win to open the season Tuesday against visiting New Orleans.
Oregon St. at Tulsa 9:00 PM ET
There's a different vibe surrounding Tulsa these days as the Golden Hurricane host slumping Oregon State on Tuesday. Tulsa dropped its first two games of the season by a combined 38 points before defeating New Orleans 77-68 behind junior forward TK Edogi's first career double-double, while the Beavers fell at Nevada 83-58 on Friday for their second straight loss.
San Jose St. at St. Mary's 10:00 PM ET
Saint Mary's has faced just one test so far this season and figures to remain unbeaten when it hosts San Jose State in Tuesday's nonconference game. The No. 17 Gaels won their first two games by an average of 28 points before notching a 61-57 road victory over Dayton on Saturday.
Kansas at Georgia 10:00 PM ET
Kansas hopes to have some energy left for another battle when they take on Georgia in the championship game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic on Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo. The No. 6 Jayhawks traveled to Hawaii for their opener, all the way to New York for a victory over then-No. 1 Duke and to Lawrence, Kan., for their home opener Friday before knocking off UAB 83-63 in Monday's tournament semifinals.
Oklahoma St. at North Carolina 10:30 PM ET
One of the most surprising teams in the country, Oklahoma State faces its toughest test of the young season Tuesday as the Cowboys face fourth-ranked North Carolina in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational. Oklahoma State is averaging 104.8 points but will be hard-pressed to reach that mark against the Tar Heels, whose imposing frontline continues to impress.
Long Beach St. at Washington 11:00 PM ET
Washington looks for its third consecutive win when it hosts Long Beach State on Tuesday. The Huskies bounced back from a disappointing 98-90 loss to Yale in their season opener by beating Cal State Fullerton 104-88 before routing Northern Arizona 92-58, and they hope to stay on the winning track by improving to 14-4 in non-conference home games since the start of the 2014-15 season.
