Preview Roundups
November 19, 2016
Savannah State at Memphis 12:00 PM ET
Coach Tubby Smith's first squad at Memphis looks to continue its unbeaten streak to start the season when it hosts Savannah State in a non-conference tussle on Saturday. The Tigers have jumped out to a 2-0 record behind the play of super sophomore Dedric Lawson, who is averaging 21 points and 12.5 rebounds -- both team highs.
Grambling State at Providence 12:00 PM ET
Providence will try to rebound from a tough road loss when it hosts Grambling State on Saturday afternoon. The Friars overcame a sluggish start to give Ohio State a run for its money in a visit to Columbus on Thursday before falling 72-67.
Penn St. at Duke 12:30 PM ET
Grayson Allen, one of the preseason favorites for national Player of the Year, had a bad night in a 77-75 loss against No. 8 Kansas on Wednesday. That will likely be bad news for a freshmen-laden Penn State squad when Allen and the rest of his No. 1 Duke teammates meet the Nittany Lions on Saturday in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament in Uncasville, Conn.
Bucknell at Butler 1:00 PM ET

It didn’t take long for Butler freshman Kamar Baldwin to make a big impact as the backup point guard drained a winning jump shot with .5 seconds left to beat Northwestern on Wednesday night. The dramatic finish gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 record as they enter Saturday’s non-conference home game against Bucknell.

Eastern Kentucky at Texas Tech 1:00 PM ET
Texas Tech will see if it can find another way to win when it hosts Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. The Red Raiders shot 61.1 percent from the floor in their opener and then relied on defense to drop North Texas on Tuesday.
St. Mary's at Dayton 2:00 PM ET
Tightening up the defensive end of the court will be a priority when No. 17 Saint Mary's hits the road for the first time this season to play Dayton in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon. The Gaels reached triple digits for the first time four years Wednesday in a 110-72 win against Prairie View A&M, but coach Randy Bennett said his team needs to be more engaged on defense after allowing the Panthers to shoot 44.6 percent from the floor.
Rhode Island at Cincinnati 3:00 PM ET
Top-ranked Duke is looming as a potential opponent for the winner of Saturday's matchup between No. 22 Rhode Island and No. 25 Cincinnati in the Hall of Fame Tip Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Both teams enter the contest unbeaten with each of them picking up two victories in on-campus games tied to the event, which has the Blue Devils playing Penn State in the other semifinal.
Pennsylvania at Miami-Florida 4:00 PM ET
Miami (Fla.) looks to continue its early-season domination when it hosts the Ivy League's Pennsylvania Quakers on Saturday. The Hurricanes have scored 92 and 94 points, respectively, against Western Carolina and North Florida with a staggering 43.5-point average margin of victory, an early indication that they might exceed the ninth-place finish in the ACC that was predicted for them by the conference's media.
New Orleans at Tulsa 4:00 PM ET
Tulsa tries for its first victory of the season when it hosts New Orleans on Saturday as the growing pains brought on by a team loaded with newcomers continue. The Golden Hurricane lost at Wichita State 80-53 on Wednesday despite coach Frank Haith inserting more experience in the starting lineup to include senior guard Pat Birt, who scored 17 points and was 3-for-5 from 3-point range after going 1-for-9 beyond the arc in the season-opening setback to Jacksonville State 84-73.
Montana at Washington St. 6:00 PM ET
Washington State doesn't have much time to recover from Friday's disappointing effort when it takes the court Saturday against Montana. The Cougars and Grizzlies moved into the losers bracket of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands with lopsided losses in the opening round.
VMI at Virginia Tech 7:00 PM ET

It’s early, but Virginia Tech has to feel pretty good after opening the season with a pair of impressive victories. The Hokies look to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2012 when they host Virginia Military Institute on Saturday.

Liberty at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
Indiana opened the season with two consecutive 100-point performances for the first time since 1992 and looks to continue the offensive flow when it hosts Liberty on Saturday night. Junior guard James Blackmon Jr. leads the way for the Hoosiers, who put up 103 points in an overtime victory over then-No. 2 Kansas before beating UMass Lowell in their home opener 100-78 on Wednesday.
Rider at South Florida 7:00 PM ET
South Florida is still licking its wounds from an eight-win season and hopes to move back in a positive direction after a rough home loss when they host dangerous Rider on Saturday night. The Bulls posted 84 points in a solid season-opening win over Florida A&M before struggling with their ballhandling and perimeter defense in a 74-61 loss to Elon on Thursday.
Louisiana Tech at Nebraska 8:00 PM ET
The first two games of Nebraska's schedule may have been considered easy matchups, but the rest of the month figures to provide plenty of opportunities for coach Tim Miles' squad to prove its mettle. The Cornhuskers begin their difficult stretch Saturday evening when they host a Louisiana Tech squad that won 23 games a season ago and already put a scare into undefeated South Carolina last weekend.
