Preview Roundups
November 16, 2016
Massachusetts Lowell at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
James Blackmon Jr. clearly announced he is back in the season opener and the standout junior guard looks to follow up that effort when fifth-ranked Indiana opens its home slate against UMass Lowell on Wednesday. Blackmon, who missed the final 22 games of last season due to knee surgery, scored 26 points as the Hoosiers outlasted then-No. 2 Kansas 103-99 in overtime at the Armed Forces Classic in Hawaii on Friday.
Northwestern at Butler 7:00 PM ET

Northwestern and Butler - a pair of teams coming off 20-win seasons and with high hopes this winter - gain an early measure on that progress when they meet Wednesday. Northwestern cruised in its first two contests, while Butler looks to extend its non-conference home winning streak to 30 games at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Seattle at Notre Dame 7:00 PM ET
Notre Dame lost its top two scorers from last season and the offense does not seem to be lacking in the early going after scoring 100 points in each of its exhibitions, along with an 89-64 win over Bryant in its regular-season opener. The Fighting Irish look to continue that type of production on the offensive end when they host Seattle on Wednesday night.
Miami-Florida at North Florida 7:00 PM ET
Miami (Fla.) got strong performances from its four highly touted freshmen - a combined 36 points and 19 rebounds - in a 92-43 rout of Western Carolina and will look to build on that as it heads to Jacksonville to take on North Florida on Wednesday. The Ospreys are the two-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season champions and are picked to finish second in the league this season, so they figure to provide a tougher test for the Hurricanes.
Brown at Rhode Island 7:00 PM ET
Rhode Island will try to keep piling up the points when it hosts in-state rival Brown on Wednesday night. Following an 84-61 triumph in their opener against Dartmouth, the 22nd-ranked Rams were on target in a 107-65 rout of Marist on Monday night, hitting 12-of-21 from 3-point range and shooting 56.5 percent overall.
Wis.-Milwaukee at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
Memphis makes a quick turnaround after its season-opening victory, hosting Milwaukee just two days later on Wednesday night. Tubby Smith's debut as the Tigers coach was a successful one thanks to the play of the Lawson brothers, K.J. and Dedric, who combined for 44 points and 23 rebounds.
Mount St. Mary's at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Minnesota looks to keep the momentum from a big come-from-behind win when it hosts Mount St. Mary’s in a non-conference battle on Wednesday. The Golden Gophers won their second game in a row Monday, rallying in the second half to defeat UT Arlington in a game they likely would have lost a year ago.
Tulsa at Wichita St. 8:00 PM ET
With a pair of freshmen, a sophomore and zero seniors in its starting lineup, Tulsa coach Frank Haith is already demonstrating the patience necessary to nurture his club. The Golden Hurricane try to shrug off an 84-73 season-opening loss to Jacksonville State when they visit Wichita State on Wednesday.
New Orleans at Oklahoma St. 8:00 PM ET
The Brad Underwood era of Oklahoma State basketball has gotten off to a winning and high-scoring start. The Cowboys, who join UCLA and Charlotte as the only teams to have topped the century mark in both of their first two games this season, will try for their third straight win Wednesday night when they host New Orleans.
Lamar at Oregon St. 9:00 PM ET
Oregon State sophomore forward Tres Tinkle missed the end of last season with a foot injury and was only cleared for all basketball activities last month, but the 6-foot-8 son of coach Wayne Tinkle is already in midseason form. Tinkle will look to continue his hot start Wednesday as the Beavers host Lamar, which was picked to finish 12th in the Southland Conference preseason poll.
Prairie View A&M at St. Mary's 10:00 PM ET
Saint Mary's hasn't lost a November game since 2012 and the No. 17 Gaels should keep that streak alive when they host Prairie View A&M on Wednesday night. Saint Mary's rolled in its season opener Friday against visiting Nevada, getting a career-high 33 points and nine rebounds from center Jock Landale in the 81-63 victory, the 16th straight win in the month of November for the Gaels.
UC Irvine at California 11:00 PM ET
California fans may need to wait a little longer for this season’s debut of preseason All-American Ivan Rabb, who is listed as day-to-day with a sprained toe. Rabb’s status remains unclear heading into Wednesday’s game against visiting UC Irvine, which was picked to finish second in the Big West preseason poll.
