Preview Roundups
February 06, 2018
Xavier at Butler 6:30 PM ET
Losses by Duke and Kansas over the weekend have increased No. 5 Xavier's chances of securing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament - but the Musketeers are still a longshot as they get ready for a Tuesday night encounter with host Butler. Xavier did its part to remain in the hunt with a 96-91 overtime victory over Georgetown, but will likely need to win out - and that path features a major roadblock in No. 1 Villanova.
Michigan at Northwestern 7:00 PM ET
No. 20 Michigan looks to beat Northwestern for the second time in eight days when it faces the Wildcats on the road Tuesday. The Wolverines overcame a poor shooting performance to pull out a 58-47 victory over the Wildcats on Jan. 29 before edging Minnesota 76-73 in overtime on Saturday, and they hope to stay on track for an NCAA Tournament at-large bid by notching their first road win since upsetting fourth-ranked Michigan State 82-72 on Jan. 13.
Tennessee at Kentucky 7:00 PM ET
No. 14 Tennessee looks to follow up its best half of basketball this season with another big effort Tuesday night when it takes to the road for another SEC showdown against 24th-ranked Kentucky. The Volunteers scored 59 points on 71.4 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes of a 94-61 rout against Ole Miss on Saturday for their fifth consecutive victory and eighth in nine games.
South Carolina at Arkansas 7:00 PM ET

Arkansas begins a critical stretch of four home games in its next five contests when it hosts South Carolina on Tuesday. The Gamecocks are trying to snap their season-high three-game losing streak.

Alabama at Mississippi State 7:00 PM ET
Plenty of eyes will be on freshman Collin Sexton when Alabama heads into Mississippi State on Tuesday, but the Crimson Tide’s defense also is a big reason why the program sits tied for third in the SEC standings. Alabama holds opponents to 65.6 points per game and 39.2 percent shooting from the field in league play, ranking second in the SEC in both categories, and used a strong defensive effort to knock off Florida 68-50 on Saturday.
Central Florida at Cincinnati 7:00 PM ET
There might not be anything that No. 6 Cincinnati can do to get into the conversation for a No. 1 seed at the NCAA Tournament - but the Bearcats are certainly well positioned to make a case. Cincinnati looks to win its 15th consecutive game - and extend its NCAA-best home winning streak to 39 games - as it welcomes Central Florida to BB&T Arena.
Boston College at Notre Dame 8:00 PM ET
Notre Dame looks to snap an ugly seven-game losing streak as it hosts Boston College on Tuesday night in a matchup between two teams in the lower half of the ACC standings. The Eagles, who are looking for their first win in South Bend since 1997, are fresh off an 80-72 overtime victory over Georgia Tech that snapped a three-game slide.
Baylor at Oklahoma State 8:00 PM ET

Oklahoma State first-year coach Mike Boynton registered his first signature road victory at Kansas Saturday, a performance that certainly caught the eye of Jayhawks coach Bill Self. With a three-game losing skid now behind them, the Cowboys continue their Big 12 campaign by hosting a Baylor team on Tuesday that just snapped a season-high four-game losing streak.

Georgetown at Providence 8:30 PM ET
Georgetown will head to Providence on Tuesday for a Big East game looking to salvage at least one victory from its three-game road trip. The Hoyas fought hard before falling at Creighton and No. 5 Xavier, and will be out to snap a six-game losing streak at the hands of the Friars.
Michigan St at Iowa 9:00 PM ET
Fourth-ranked Michigan State looks to extend its current six-game winning streak when it travels to Iowa for a Big Ten contest on Tuesday night. The Spartans are coming off a narrow win over Indiana last Saturday night while the Hawkeyes are hoping to bounce back after an embarrassing road loss to Penn State on Saturday.
Nebraska at Minnesota 9:00 PM ET
A pair of Big Ten teams trending in opposite directions square off Tuesday when Nebraska visits Minnesota. The Cornhuskers have won three in a row and are looking like an NCAA Tournament team, while the Golden Gophers appear NIT-bound, at best, after five straight defeats.
Missouri at Mississippi 9:00 PM ET

Ole Miss looks to continue its recent dominance over Missouri when it hosts the Tigers on Tuesday. The Rebels have won eight straight meetings, tying their second-longest winning streak against an SEC opponent, and have captured nine of the 10 all-time matchups.

Wichita St. at Memphis 9:00 PM ET
Wichita State is encountering some rough waters during its maiden voyage in the American Athletic Conference, but a road game against struggling Memphis on Tuesday could offer smooth sailing. The No. 21 Shockers lost at Temple 81-79 in overtime last Thursday for their third setback in five games since winning their first five AAC contests, but senior center Shaquille Morris is keeping things in perspective.
Texas Christian at Kansas 9:00 PM ET
Tenth-ranked Kansas is experiencing some issues when playing inside venerable Allen Fieldhouse and will look to put forth a better effort when it hosts TCU on Tuesday in Big 12 play. The Jayhawks suffered an 84-79 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday and have lost three games on their home floor for the first time in 19 seasons.
