Preview Roundups
February 01, 2018
Creighton at Villanova 6:30 PM ET
With 10 games left in the regular season, No. 1 Villanova has to be feeling good about its chances to make a deep run in March. A four-game homestand against unranked opponents never hurts, of course, and that comfortable schedule begins Thursday with a date against Creighton.
Wichita St. at Temple 7:00 PM ET
Wichita State tries for its third straight victory when it visits Temple on Thursday and hopes its leading scorer breaks out of his shooting slump. Sophomore guard Landry Shamet is 5-for-27 from the field in his last three games - 1-for-18 from 3-point range, dropping his field goal percentage to 49.8 percent as the No. 16 Shockers try for their sixth victory in seven true road games this season.
Southern Methodist at Tulsa 8:00 PM ET
SMU is playing well despite a short bench after two season-ending injuries. The Mustangs have won three of four heading into Thursday's American Athletic Conference contest at Tulsa.
Northwestern at Wisconsin 8:30 PM ET
Northwestern concludes its three-game road swing Thursday against Wisconsin. The Wildcats started their trip with an encouraging 77-69 victory against Minnesota before going cold from the floor in the 58-47 setback to No. 25 Michigan on Monday, and hope to move another step closer to returning to .500 in Big Ten play by notching back-to-back wins against the Badgers in Madison for the first time since 1969-70.
San Diego at Gonzaga 9:00 PM ET
Gonzaga takes aim at notching its 21st consecutive 20-win season when it hosts San Diego in Thursday's West Coast Conference action. The No. 12 Bulldogs have the third-longest active streak in that category behind Kansas (28) and Duke (21).
Oregon at California 9:00 PM ET
Stuck in the middle of the Pac-12 standings, Oregon begins a key stretch of games Thursday as the Ducks travel to Berkeley to face a struggling California team. Oregon sits in seventh place at 4-4 while the last-place Bears have been outscored by an average of 17 points during their eight-game losing streak.
San Francisco at St. Mary's 11:00 PM ET
In the midst of a school-record 16-game winning streak that includes a key road win at Gonzaga, Saint Mary's has the upper hand over the rival Zags entering the final month of West Coast Conference play. The 14th-ranked Gaels will look to remain unbeaten in WCC action when they host San Francisco on Thursday night.
Arizona State at Washington 11:00 PM ET
Washington has exceeded expectations in Pac-12 play so far, but the Huskies will face their toughest stretch of conference play beginning Thursday night against No. 23 Arizona State in Seattle. Washington was picked to finish 10th in the conference in a preseason poll of media members who cover the Pac-12, but the Huskies currently are in third place.
Oregon St. at Stanford 11:00 PM ET
Halfway through the Pac-12 schedule, few teams have been as confounding as Stanford, which has lost three in a row following a five-game winning streak. The Cardinal look to get back in the win column Thursday against visiting Oregon State, which has dropped four of its last five games.
