Preview Roundups
December 18, 2016
L.A. Clippers at Washington 3:30 PM ET
The Washington Wizards look like a playoff team when the offense clicks and they play a little defense, and wins in four of the last five games showed an improvement in those areas. The Wizards will try to finish off a three-game homestand with their first three-game winning streak of the season when they host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
Sacramento at Dallas 4:00 PM ET
The Dallas Mavericks are showing signs that they might be ready to break out of a season-long funk, but stringing together multiple wins still eludes the team. The Mavericks will try to end a two-game slide when they host the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.
Utah at Memphis 6:00 PM ET
The Memphis Grizzlies went 7-2 in nine games without star point guard Mike Conley in the lineup and promptly lost in his return from transverse process fractures in his lower back. The Grizzlies get a chance to grind their way back into the win column when the surging Utah Jazz visit on Sunday.
Brooklyn at Philadelphia 6:00 PM ET
The two worst teams in the Eastern Conference square off for the first time this season when the Brooklyn Nets visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. The Nets are 1-11 on the road - including eight straight losses - after dropping a 118-111 decision at Orlando on Friday.
Toronto at Orlando 6:00 PM ET
The Toronto Raptors have made strides offensively this season while moving backward on the other end of the court, allowing almost 110 points per game over the last six contests. The Raptors hope to begin turning things around defensively Sunday night when they visit the Orlando Magic, one of the league’s worst offenses statistically despite a recent surge.
Boston at Miami 6:00 PM ET
Isaiah Thomas is back in the fold for the Boston Celtics, and with the team winding through a challenging portion of the schedule the timing could not be better. Thomas leads the Celtics into the opener of a three-game road trip when they visit the Miami Heat on Sunday.
New Orleans at San Antonio 7:00 PM ET
The New Orleans Pelicans watched the Houston Rockets fire off a record 61 3-pointers and make a record 24 in a loss on Friday, but the biggest problem was star forward Anthony Davis sitting on the bench with a leg contusion. Davis will try to take the court when the Pelicans face another tough road test at the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
