Preview Roundups
November 22, 2014
Phoenix at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
Phoenix will try to clinch a winning record on its longest road trip of the season when it visits Indiana on Saturday night. The Suns had no problem improving to 3-1 on the six-game voyage with a 122-96 rout of woeful Philadelphia on Friday, riding a slump-busting performance from leading scorer Isaiah Thomas. The third-year pro, who was 8-for-36 from the floor over his previous four games, made his first five shots and scored 23 points in the rout of the 76ers.
Miami at Orlando 7:00 PM ET
After pulling off the third-largest comeback win in franchise history, the Orlando Magic hope to have enough left in the tank for a visit from the Miami Heat on Saturday. The Magic rallied from a 23-point deficit for a 105-100 win at Charlotte on Friday for their fourth win in six games. The Heat have dropped four of their last five and are coming off a 110-93 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
Toronto at Cleveland 7:30 PM ET
The energy level will be high Saturday when the Eastern Conference-leading Toronto Raptors visit LeBron James and the struggling, conference-favorite Cleveland Cavaliers. After a first-round playoff exit last season, the Raptors have come back stronger than ever with a franchise-best 10-2 record to open the season. The Cavaliers enter on a three-game losing streak, with a struggling Kevin Love and a leaky defense among other concerns.
Philadelphia at New York 7:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia 76ers are closing in on the worst start in franchise history and the string of defeats sit at 12 as they visit the New York Knicks on Saturday. Philadelphia is three losses away from matching the 0-15 start of the 1972-73 squad for the team’s worst mark and is now closing in on the NBA mark of 18 held by the New Jersey Nets (2009-10). The 76ers were routed 122-96 by the Phoenix Suns on Friday to keep the futility going.
Dallas at Houston 8:00 PM ET
The Houston Rockets are hoping the Dallas Maverick wore themselves out on Friday night. The Mavericks, who put up 140 points in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, will play the second night of a back-to-back when they visit the Rockets on Saturday. Houston is not so hot offensively at the moment with Dwight Howard and Terrence Jones ailing and has dropped two straight games for the first time this season.
Sacramento at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Minnesota figured to have some bumps in the road after losing star forward Kevin Love in a trade with Cleveland, but the current spate of injuries has been downright cruel. Light on manpower and reeling from another ugly loss, the Timberwolves will try to summon up some energy when they host Sacramento on Saturday. Already without three starters, Minnesota announced just prior to Friday's 121-92 loss to San Antonio that guard Kevin Martin was out indefinitely with a broken wrist.
Washington at Milwaukee 8:30 PM ET
Teams on opposite ends of the spectrum meet Saturday when the visiting Washington Wizards play the Milwaukee Bucks. The Wizards enter with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference after having throttled LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers 91-78 on Friday. Milwaukee, on the other hand, trailed by as many as 52 points in a 124-83 loss at Toronto on Friday.
Brooklyn at San Antonio 8:30 PM ET
The Brooklyn Nets took advantage of the shorthanded Oklahoma City Thunder to snap a five-game slide but take a step up in competition when they visit the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. The Spurs are winners of three in a row and blasted Minnesota 121-92 on the road on Friday. The Nets have failed to reach 100 points in four of their last five contests and are going up against a San Antonio squad leading the league in scoring defense.
New Orleans at Utah 9:00 PM ET
The Utah Jazz have an opportunity to go on a run with eight of their next 10 games being at home, beginning with Saturday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Utah has played eight of its first 13 games on the road and is three games under .500 as it begins the pivotal stretch. New Orleans is finishing a four-game road trip and was routed 117-97 by the Denver Nuggets on Friday.
