Preview Roundups
October 28, 2016
Cleveland at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers dispatched the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference finals last season and aim to notch another victory in Toronto on Friday in the first regular-season meeting between the clubs since last May's series. The Raptors won two contests in the six-game playoff series but Cleveland's four victories were by an average of 28.5 points.
Indiana at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
The Brooklyn Nets and the Indiana Pacers both brought in new coaches in the offseason in an effort to coax more points and more wins out of the rosters, and scoring did not seem to be a problem for either team in their respective openers. The Pacers will take their scoring punch on the road when they visit the Nets on Friday.
Orlando at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Pistons will be without point guard Reggie Jackson for at least the first month and, if the first game is any indication, will be eagerly anticipating his return. The Pistons will look for their first win when they host another team that did not get off to its preferred start in the Orlando Magic on Friday.
Phoenix at Oklahoma City 8:00 PM ET
Russell Westbrook no longer has that famous running partner with him and that means he gets to take over games all by himself now. The Oklahoma City All-Star point guard closed well in the Thunder's first game without the departed Kevin Durant and aims for another solid outing against the visiting Phoenix Suns on Friday.
Charlotte at Miami 8:00 PM ET
The Charlotte Hornets came within one win of advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals last season but were crushed 106-73 in Game 7 at the Miami Heat. The Hornets will get an early chance to erase some of that pain when they take on a much different Heat roster in a visit to Miami on Friday.
Houston at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
James Harden is being asked to be a facilitator this season and the Houston All-Star guard took it to new heights in the Rockets' season opener. Harden set a career-high with 17 assists during the loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and will again look to combine passes with shots as Houston begins a home-and-home series against the host Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
L.A. Lakers at Utah 9:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Lakers were victorious in Luke Walton's coaching debut with the franchise and look to make it two straight wins when they host the Utah Jazz on Friday. Walton's young team put together a solid effort by knocking off the Houston Rockets 120-114 on Wednesday.
Golden State at New Orleans 9:30 PM ET
The Golden State Warriors brought in former MVP Kevin Durant to pair with reigning two-time MVP Stephen Curry and All-Stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, and it might be that none of those four are the best player on the court Friday. New Orleans forward Anthony Davis had the best season debut of any player in the league and will try to follow it up when the Pelicans host the Warriors on Friday.
